Since 1987, an astonishing 52 rappers have been murdered, with only a handful of them solved.

What makes you think I wanna support Macklemore?

Because he's got so many accomplishments.

Grammys, millions of albums sold, no. 1s on the charts.

That's worth way more (according to you) than being a dope MC who makes dope records.

Well?

Where did I say "having so many accomplishments is more important that being a dope MC who makes dope records?"

When you argued that being a dope MC who makes dope records isn't in ITSELF an accomplishment greater than selling records and winning awards.

Let the record show that I never argued that any particular accomplishment was greater or not than another one.

That's y'alls' trap.

All i'm saying is that different accomplishments besides that aren't worthless, and
the more you have adds more credence to your body of work. Why? Because those things
are often tangible things that can be verified. One's "dope" quotient often doesn't do that,
because "dopeness" is a dependent variable.

They're pretty worthless.

Hammer and Vanilla Ice and Will Smith have millions in sales, American Music Awards, Grammys, etc. . .

The problem with your argument is those other "accomplishments" count on people outside of the culture to validate us. We don't run the Grammys and we're not responsible for most record sales.

It's important to maintain our integrity within the culture so that our culture isn't jacked by outsiders.

Opinion.

Again - we know that's not the case because such are important to the ones making the music.

Hammer and Vanilla Ice and Will Smith have millions in sales, American Music Awards, Grammys, etc. . .

...do they all have each of those things?
Now, if Hammer has a million seller album, and an AMA, and a Grammy? He has "three accomplishments".
If Vanilla Ice has a milllion seller album, and an AMA, but no Grammy, he has "two accomplishments".
In that case, it's not wrong to argue that MC Hammer is "more accomplished" than Vanilla Ice.

That's my whole point here. Nothing more, nothing less.

...and this is just in a vacuum. There are other things that are "accomplishments" outside of these things,
which leads us to this...

The problem with your argument is those other "accomplishments" count on people outside of the culture to validate us.

Not necessarily.

We can validate artists by buying their records.
Artists create movements at times. If they catch on, that is an accomplishment. If we support such, that's us validating them.
