I'm seriously starting to think that Spurs spent the entire regular season prepping for the Heat. They seemed to have tweaked their system perfectly to handle teams that like to switch and trap by searching for openings that are created when that happens. You seriously never know which pass the Spurs are going to make next as they anticipate the rotations and pass to the second opening that hasn't been created yet.

Marion, Wright, and Dalemebert played out of their mind defensively for 6 games...

Especially Dalembert...he got a way with a ton of hacking...but he also was just straight up detouring shots...

shyt he had san antonio more spooked in the paint on defense than Ibaka did

The Spurs are a fun team to watch for true basketball fans. The way they execute passes, move without the ball, switch on defenders as well as selfelessly assist one another, its no wonder that they are one win away from winning the chip. After watching the reserves come in and not skip a beat, I wonder if Pop has these guys playing in blindfolds during practice sessions. Its almost like they know how to get to the basket and break down defenders and kick out the pass without even trying.

You can tell Pop watched a lot of footage from last years finals, the ball just doesn't stop moving this year, they're averaging 7 more apg this year vs last.

Anything is possible, I just have a hard time seeing this team losing 3 games in a row, 2 of them in which they'd be on their home floor.

I do too.. but after last year... and the back door sweep that OKC put on them in 2012... I need to continue to be cautiously pessimistic

I know its a different team but still...

It would be one of the great comebacks in NBA history, the Heat are having so much trouble defending though, I'd be shocked if they pulled it off.

It's weird for me, because as a Heat fan it's frustrating to watch, but as a fan of the sport, it's fukkin :whew:

I caught myself on more than one occasion last night saying "nice pass!" out loud because it's beautiful to watch an offense function like a well oiled machine at the highest level with this much at stake. The interior passing by their bigs and the constant movement and flawless spacing is unreal, man.

It actually lessens the blow knowing we're about to take an L to this squad. It's nothing like 2011, where I still feel like we were the better team and would beat the Mavs more times than not. The Spurs are just better at playing basketball, this time around. The Heat are just outclassed and it sucks, but at least it's not some "shoulda coulda woulda" shyt like the Mavs series. I can't imagine the Heat taking 4 out of 7 even if Wade shows up and plays up to par. Their offensive execution is just otherworldly right now.

I actually think they have one more run in them next year too because of the small amount of minutes they can play their 3 big guys and have em fresh entering the playoffs

You can definitely see the tweaks in their offense. They've always been unselfish, but last year, especially in the Finals, it was more catered to Parker breaking the defense down (either via one on one, or off the PNR), and creating either for himself or for someone else (mostly Danny Green). The Heat's PNR defense ramped up (which is saying something, as they play it very aggressive as it is), Parker was exhausted by the end of the series, and LeBron was able to curb his penetration at the end of games 6 & 7. Manu having such a bad series (outside of Game 5) probably cost them the series (well, that, and the disastrous end to Game 6).

This year, Manu is playing well, but the offense is a completely different animal. They're relying less on the PNR, and more on making sure the ball doesn't stop moving. Don't misunderstand: the PNR is still there every time down the court, but it's used more as an ignitor of the offense, as opposed to a finish. They're allowing the Heat to consistently play themselves out of position, and continually taking advantage. It's crazy, cause the Heat are known for playing very aggressive defense when the games get big, and it's always worked. However, after last year, it seems that Pop recognized that, and thus the subtle shift in their offensive philosophy. What was Miami's biggest advantage has now turned into it's biggest detriment.

Spo gets alot of heat (no pun), but what is he supposed to do (on defense atleast...offense is another issue)? Ever since the Big 3 have been there, they've hung their hat on their aggressive defense, and now it's being exploited masterfully by Pop and his well oiled machine. Can't do anything but tip your cap. Their best is better than your best. Atleast up to this point...

Don't forget Diaw who is essentially another PG on the floor at the PF position.

They trap Parker and they get it to Diaw who drives and makes a pass to a cutting Gino or Leonard... or swings it to Duncan for the dunk
