Howard has nothing to do with the Phillies not rebuilding their farm system. This is just a stat nerd, cop-out answer. Yes it was a bad contract we get it...But it did not cripple the franchise the way Ruben was handing out prospects and getting raped in deals (aka Cliff Lee to Seattle)

Traded away lee and that asshat still came back for less money than other teams were offering

No shyt it was, considering the fact Ruben was negotiating with himself. The actual problem started when Ruben traded Cliff Lee for no goddamn reason for pennies on the dollar. Forget the 102 wins in 2011, the problem was brewing then and everyone knew it was going to come to where we're at today.

Its a bad contract in hindsight but everybody got a Delorean nowadays I see. If dude would have kept up his early numbers he would have got way more than that on the open market and dude would've been bytching. Must be some 610 type wishy washy dudes on here lol
