surprised this didnt make more noise, both were on top of hip hop and r&b respectively at the time

don't fall for the revisionist history, brethren.

Aaliyah was never at the top of r&b. not even in the conversation.

song did alright considering this wasn't anything spectacular and they both had big hits out that summer.

This is so true about Aaliyah. I was working in Circuit City when she passed and that album she had only sold because of her passing. Was collecting dust on the shelf for the longest.

Revisonist history is you saying the albun was collecting dust on the shelf for the longest. That album came out at the end of July. She passed like a month later. That album had sold like 500K before she passed.

I never liked this song. The teaming of her and DMX, I thought it would've at least been as good if not better than "You Won't See Me Tonight". I thought the sample was lazy.

She had a streak going. Coming off a #1 with "Try Again" (One of my least favorite Aaliyah/Timbo tracks). "I Don't Wanna" was another hit. That's one of her best IMO.

This should have been a smash. Heck this would be a hit if it was released today. Pharrell's solo is so slept on, especially since "Number One" with Ye didn't blow.

This was my shyt in high school but it was so slept on, even when I found out about it the song was already kinda old. :wow: In My Mind was slept on fr

This song had it's run. I mean it wasn't no chart topper but it got it's burn for sure. shyt used to fukk up my vibe in the club :ld:

this is the song that spawned this thread
Retro: A+ - All I See

yes this was a hit, but it should've been way bigger. it should've been an all-time anthem for kids & early teens.

put him with Michael bivins or Jermaine dupri, and A+ gets a platinum single & possibly a platinum album out of this.

FLAWLESS TRACK. fresh, cutting edge & extremely-relatable concept that none of the previous kid rappers had touched on.

and despite a perfect A+ performance by A+, he still managed to kinda get outshined by Shakira Atily. you really cant ask for more.

agreed
