I think marriage is a very beautiful thing and can really grow a person. I too hope to have kids one day but I understand where most males are coming from.

But you look at a statistic like 50% of marriages end in a divorce, and you can't help but ask if this is even worth it. Especially since family court laws are generally against you, you are the burden. I hope to get married but the idea of marriage is much more unattractive these days. Didn't even mention restrictions put in place on seeing your kids.

I sort of understand both sides of the argument.

You're deflecting from the issues by claiming that black men have an issue raising their kids without providing analysis and reasoning for your premise.

To get to your point: black men generally do not have an issue with raising their kids. However, the black men who are baby daddies tend to be the type of men who are unfit for fatherhood. This begs the question, "why are women having children with these men?" Why are there twice as many single mothers in the black community as there are single fathers? The only rational response is that the majority of black women who are single mothers tend to have children with the same men...the same men who were never fit for fatherhood. Once again, you announce an issue without examining it's foundation and the accompanying elements. Then you have the nerve to say that black men's supposed maladaptiveness to raising their children is reflective in our willingness to avoid marriage. Smh.

Where have I ever said a man should not look after his child? I'm all for 50/50 custody but the courts are not, see with 50/50 custody there is no child support payments being paid.

So you're telling me that men should get married and compromise themselves legally for a "no fault" divorce institution that currently has a 50% divorce rate (with over 80% of divorces initiated by women)?

You're telling me that men should actively seek to get married when there's no tangible legal benefits for them in doing so?

You're telling me that in the cases of divorce, men should look forward to paying child support, alimony, and having their kids taken away from them?
