He’s not a hofer yet. Hall of fame with half a career? No
Basketball HoF is a joke. You can look at the last five years and see some of the careers stats and go
:jbhmm:
Michael Cooper just made the HoF. Name one season anybody thought he was a top 25 player. Probably never received an MVP vote.
:mjlol:
No disrespect to the “legend”.
:salute:

Hopefully he can get as healthy as to be expected and at least give them 1 or 2 seasons of productivity. But this may very well be it for him and if so it's sad that he has to go out this way. You kind of hoped he has passed the bad luck stage after having two pretty healthy seasons for his standards in 22 and 23. But the last injury looks like it might have been to much for him to overcome this time. Hopefully he proves me wrong and it doesn't take some radical surgery for him to play again.

Ngl, this was his best case scenario when he was drafted. I’m just confused as to why he played in the Olympics

Legacy.

I bet he knew deeeeep down that he was never going to lead a team to a 'ship.

You got Boston/Cleveland/New York etc., in the East to block the path. They're probably not beating OKC, Dallas Luka or Los Angeles Luka etc.

He wanted a "win" on his resume and figured Team USA could carry him to a dub.

You cant be a hall of famer and not play games. The basketball hall of fame standards are so low. If this was baseball or Football, Embiid would never sniff the hall.

:camby: @ that diluted hall of fame.

I agree he shouldn't be in the HOF....but The Basketball HOF is much different from MLB/NFL.

MLB has issues because petty azz baseball writers clearly play favorites with guys they like versus guys that were mean to them.

NFL is more fair but they tend to create backlogs and leave out a lot of obvious candidates.

The only comp I can think of for Embiid....is maybe Sterling Sharpe, but Embiid WAS NEVER as good at hoops...as Sterling was at football. Terrell Davis had a short career but had crazy playoff success to offset. Gayle Sayers career was cut short but he was dominant when playing.

Issue with Embiid is that it's not like he was super healthy for 8 years and then just couldn't play anymore. He has technically been in the league 11 years but didn't even see the court until Year 3.....then was hurt half his career after actually seeing the court and his career is already short.

He is a career 27/11 guy, 50% from the field and 83% on FTs. That's HOF if he averaged 65 to 75 games/year.

How did he cry his way to MVP, I need examples

"If it happens, great," Embiid said of winning his first MVP. "If it doesn't, I don't know what I have to do. I'll feel like they hate me. I feel like the standard for guys in Philly or for me is different than everyone else."

These type of comments don't do him any favors and the Kendrick Perkins ones doesn't help either. He's made those type of comments on more than one occasion.

Discussing it when the media asks you about the MVP race is not crying about it. At that point he was tired of the talk due to always being in the conversation for MVP but never getting the votes for whatever reason the media made up

So what about the Kendrick Perkin’s comments as that was essentially doing it on his behalf and helped him win it.
