The only thing that will make them turn on him is if he's going to take their guns. That's a move even he is smart enough to avoid. Turns out that was the smartest thing they could have ever done because now American banks and tech companies have zero leverage in that country. The only option is military and they have nukes so they'll shoot back on some "nah, WE both dying here" and given that their population is nearly 3 times that of america, with a massive global diaspora, they have a chance of surviving a nuclear exchange no matter how tiny.

This is what is going to happen: those magats who lose their snap benefits will be forced to go to food banks, soup kitchens etc. And guess who tends to work at places like that? "Woke liberals" and non whites. Interacting with those people on a regular basis and realizing that they aren't bloodthirsty murderers obsessed with turning people Trans and gay, they'll realize that maybe they can actually share a country with people like that and although they can be annoying, they want to strengthen the social safety net instead of cutting it. People are what make this country what it is, and people know how to come together to use their resources for the benefit of the community. Conservatism is a selfish ideology that basically says "fukk yall I got mine. There's a right and a wrong way to do everything and I'm always right" such an ideology is utterly useless in a crisis situation where cooperation is the difference between life and death and not just some "woke liberal bullshyt".

I find that this whole situation was deliberate.

The reason I say this is because we all know Trump, and generally speaking, conservatives in general have been wanting to severely cut or worse dismantle the SNAP program, although dismantling it in its entirety is highly unlikely because of the optics, in terms of politics, it doesn't really benefit the GOP as much as they might gaslight on the topic, considering a large portion of their base rely on these benefits themselves.

My aunt was a social worker before she retired and told me how a similar situation happened during his first term. See in early 2019, the government was shut down under Trump as well, however during that shutdown he granted the States permission to dispense February 2019's SNAP benefits early to recipients, clearly he was more open to it because of the fact he didn't have the House or Senate but most importantly he was still in his first term and I've explained numerous times how stuff wouldn't dare to do in his first run, he's doing it now, he has nothing to lose at this point.

This time, he's deliberately told states not to distribute these benefits early, which is why there are talks about November's SNAP being either delayed or potentially cancelled until December.

They're playing a political game right now, trying to force the Dems into a corner and make a difficult decision, prioritizing families' eating or saving millions of Americans' healthcare benefits. If the Dems panic and agree to this bill then millions will potentially lose access to their healthcare. The Dems are not really to blame for this, but by Republicans holding out like this, it will skew some perception amongst a segment of the public specifically those among the Democratic base that rely on SNAP.

Truth be told, the GOP doesn't really need the Dems to agree on anything to end the shutdown; they could use the emergency filibuster, but they won't because they could use it later as leverage in other ordeals.
