Haven't listened to a snoop dogg album since R&G.

Wasn't expecting THIS at all :ohhh:

This has been on repeat since yesterday (after being hesitant to even give it a listen :snoop:)

Is a good combination of chill, party ish and cruise music.

Got damn ya man Pharrell :whew:

Off the first listen this is his best album in ten years. He's had some good songs here and there but hasn't had a consistent effort like this in forever. :salute:

If Snoop would've kept some of those albums at 10-12 songs like he has done with this one, it would've helped his discography a lot. He's always had a lot of good songs on the albums, for the most part, but they're often surrounded by junk.

Anyone see that Nelly does backgrounds and got a writing credit on Peaches N Cream? And Charlie Wilson is on 8 songs.

As I said earlier - i'm glad I got the booklet.

1. The locations of some of these recordings was noteworthy to me.
The Studio At The Palms, Los Vegas - yeah, a lot of these cuts feel Vegas-y.
Thomas Crown Studios, Virginia Beach - hey Timbo was kinda involved! Kinda. In a way.
Estudio Santito, Buenos Aires - maan, I would've loved to hear some of these beats on studio speakers
with Argentinian broads gettin' loose to 'em...

2. I knew I heard something else on "Peaches & Cream", thas that nicca Nelly!

3. This album did a good job of being old school without sampling. "Peaches & Cream" is the only
song with samples, and you can barely notice them even if you listen for them. It has 3: "It Takes Two"
is the easy one because that's in Snoop's verse; "One Nation Under A Groove" is the whistles; but the
third one is Teena Marie's "I Need Your Lovin'" and I can't tell what part of that is in here...

4. "Produced entirely by Pharrell" my ass...6 of these cuts say "additional production by Chad Hugo".

Aight - so here are my thoughts:

"California Roll" - helluva way to jump this off. This is "California Love, Pt. 4" This the anthem.

"This City" - ...this is the new L.A. anthem for people who thought the first song was too laid back.
Kicked it up a notch, imo.

"R U A Freak" - this should be that cut all the DJs in the club spin @ last call for the ladaaaaaaies
to get they mind right. 'Cause I gotta go.

"Awake" - This is the poppiest joint on this mugg. This is the one that feels like a Pharrell/N.E.R.D. song
where the guest happens to be Snoop Dogg. But it's cool - they did a good job giving this to us as a
buzz song.

"So Many Pros" - I thought this cut was just okay when it got released as a single because it sounded so
similar to "Peaches & Cream"...but I heard it in the system in my mob and heard all the extra stuff that made
it come alive. Banger.

"Peaches N Cream" - Flames. Single of the year so far, i'm predicting it will be song of the summer.

"Edibles" - I'm not feelin' this one. It just missed me.

"I Knew That" - FUCC YESS. BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. Playa sheeit to the utmost, have it on repeat.

"Run Away" - Dope. Cool li'l duet. Felt good because it switched things up with a little breakbeat.

"I'm Ya Dogg" - Ugh. No. What a bad way to end. Dis-a-pointed.
I even sat through Ricky and Kendrick's verses. I wanted to like this.
Both guests had a couple of hot lines and the rest just rhymes (edit: I got bars!).

Overall - this is a good pre-game album. It's cool, i'd recommend it.

I hope it encourages maybe a return to the "one producer" albums.

This shyt is flames, I hadn't listened to any of the singles beforehand, all of these tracks go man. Digging the phase Snoop's in right now with this after the Dam Funk release, just straight chill and breezy music.
