i think you can add drop it like its hot while you at it
good thread
I'm just now seeing the party song part so that eliminates my suggestion of Dear Mama. But California Love,How Do You Want It,maybe I Get AroundI agree I don't think Dear Mama is in that category either.
How many average people know and sing along to an LL Cool J song?
And I'm talking about 'Mama Said Knock You Out', 'Hey Lover', 'I'm Doing It', etc?
And I mean rapping the verses, not just knowing only the choruses
How many hits has LL had this decade, fukk it, this century?!
'Ill Bomb', 'Love U Better', 'Headsprung'?
Don't just say shyt just to say shyt
Originally, I thought this thread was saying he has 2 hit songs in 3 different generations. A lot of rappers have two hit songs that have transcended decades.
I think dmx might hit that territory with stop drop and party up
Yeah I had to remove LL too. Just not meeting the criteria .
And again I don’t think BIG, Naghty or Hammer meet it either ... they might be able to recite some of the choruses but no lyric recitation ... BIG would be the closest out of that group with Hypnotize and MoMoney... but still those songs didn’t hit with the soccer moms in suburbia like that enough at the time for them to be able to recite lyrics .
You reaching .I love LL but his music does not span generations like you talking. Maybe mama said knock you out but that's it. Young people are not citing LL lyrics word for word
G Thang and Gin n Juice can be played at a party of soccer moms and they’ll rap that shyt word for word...
Keep in mind, you can go to Snoop show and it’d be young teens, their parents and their grandparents rapping both of those songs word for word...
I don’t think any other rapper can make that kinda claim with TWO songs that span that manny generations .
How did Ludacris not get mentioned yet?
I agree with snoop though, and I'd definitely add Next Episode to that list.
But no Luda?
dude was king of party tracks for a while.
