What people also often seem to forget that, even if Snoop isnt the biggest lyricist on this planet, he knows how to write songs that bang. Theres plenty of guys that could surely write a bit more complex triple, quadruple whatever rhymes but in the end it still sounds like shyt if you dont have the right flow, charisma and attitude behind the mic...
Both Chronic's and Doggystyle enough to be legendary, he's done other dope things too, I don't believe he's a top 10 or anything but he's a legend.
What the hell? Snoo0 has one of the greatest voices and can be argued the greatest flow(which is very underrated.the most charisma. Dude is hip hop to the core. You ever seen him perform live? Of course not. Not to many people can't put on and control the crowd like him. Dude is definitely a master of ceremony
Snoop has the GOAT flow, that alone makes him top 10, Doggystyle maybe the GOAT album. He has plenty of 4-4.5 mic albums after that with Top Dogg, Tha Last Meal, Blue Carpet Treatment. R&G, Ego Trippin, Paid the Cost all very solid projects

came here to say this, dude is a certified hip hop legend, but ranking him as a rapper, he very much ends up where he should be. snoop was always bigger than his rhymes, he is/was an icon

I liked him in his early days, but after a while he wore thin, he really is too laid back for half of the people he was on tracks with. His mellow flow is great to ride a beat on, but its gets boring very quickly. It was incredibly hard to get on board when you had Pac dropping bangers every other week, with both a fast and slow flow.
I can understand the appeal though, he rode that pretend pimp train ala Kat Williams. People love that shyt, Pimps, Gangsters, etc. However judging from his Instagram posts, dude has always been playing pretend and or c00ning around.

Disagree I think he's sort of underrated. Snoops larger than life persona, over shadows his skills as a rapper. No Limit Topp Dogg, The Last Meal, Paid the Cost, Blue Carpet and Ego Trippin are all very solid albums and have great tracks on them. Snoop is one of the most versatile rappers to pick up the Mic.

Freestyling is a major cornerstone of rap, I've never heard Jay-Z freestyling, Nas freestyling, Method Man freestyling, etc.
Not a knock on any of them, but you have to be seriously talented to pull of a freestyle from the top of your head AND keep people listening with a flow. I'm not talking about most freestylers who can bore you, but who could match Kurupt and Snoop when they came in the game;

Point is, not only does Snoop have charisma, ability to create songs, but he also has skills to freestyle off the top of his head better than any other top rapper in the game and that should not be undervalued or underestimated.
