The only financing issues is what portion of the infrastructure cost te city (me as an actual taxpayer) will have to take on. They haven't been transparent on that at all.

I was going to add that but yeah, those costs are collateral. I think this announcement was just an agreement for financing the stadium itself.

Atlanta To New Orleans
so true. and i doubt people would be behind them if they spelled it out that it's either new textbooks and new roads or a new stadium that most yall wont even afford to go to in. people are that dumb.:snoop:

It's not even that. People on a subconscious level know they need to pay some sort of tax for education. Problem is, asking for taxes for that makes dumb people think the educators can't do their job... because for some reason, people just THINK these teachers are nice folks with hefty salaries. :snoop:

If you gave someone that option of education or sports, they're going to ask why isn't there money for both. When you make it clear that it has to be ONE or the other, they'll just say "teachers make too much" or "the city needs to stop spending so much money elsewhere." No matter what, they can't give up their sports... no matter the costs.

You DO realize that a large part of the financing for this is coming from the hotel/motel tax revenue generated from downtown hotels populated chiefly by out of towners. That tax money is managed by the city & is in conjunction with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (the governing body that owns & operates the Georgia Dome & Georgia World Congress Center). It was NEVER going to be money for infrastructure or schools. The tax was designed to benefit the Dome & now the new facility

So please fall off your soapbox b/c you have NO idea what you're talking about

What leverage when there hasnt been an ownership group or financing in place for a stadium deal in LA or surrounding areas for more than 2 decades?
:what:

farmers-field-in-los-angeles-next-to-the-staples-center.jpg

They been pumpin' this new stadium that's supposed to be built next to Staples Center for the past 3-4 years. It already has a sponser- Farmer's Insurance.

But my whole point is that teams who want a new stadium in the city they dwell in will say "hey if we don't get a new stadium we're going to move to LA". and then the city and its inhabitants say hey we can't live without our NFL franchise, lets get them a new stadium. that's my whole point. Its basically telling a girlfriend that if she doesn't act right then he's got a new bytch in the cut waiting on him. It doesn't matter if there's a new development in the new city or not. but there actually is one and the value of the franchise could double if they move to LA

Key word in the bolded is "supposed". That facility doesn't exist & is just an image. Just like football in LA it's a mirage

That's the point I'm trying to make to you. Owner A can make a threat to move to LA, but when that owner looks at how realistic it is to move there & what his financing for a new stadium will look like its an idle threat that no one who's slightly educated will fall for

AEG(who built Staples Center and LA LIve) is paying for that stadium breh. They won't start building until a team is definitely coming. A new team will have to play at the Rose Bowl or LA Coliseum for two years until the stadium is built. Every team owner knows this. Its not impossible to move a franchise its been done time and time again. Especially if you don't own your own stadium and your lease is up in the building you play in. I'm not saying a team will even leave but the threat to move, especially to a bigger market, is what makes these cities break themselves and cough up the dough for a new building.

Tell me this, If LA had a team already and wasn't a threat for a franchise to relocate then would Seattle, Cincinnati, Indy, Minnesota, SF, NY Jets, ATL, etc have new stadiums or plans for a new stadium? How else are these teams strong arming their towns for new buildings if it weren't for LA?

Again speaking SPECIFICALLY about Atlanta & the Falcons, there was never a threat or hint of a threat to move to LA by Blank, the Falcons or anybody in the Falcons organization so there was no "threat" to leave the city to go to California. LA wasn't a factor in getting a deal done here & I imagine it didn't play a role in the majority of discussions teams in certain markets had about getting a new stadium deal.

So please STOP trying to say Blank threatened to move the Falcons to LA to get a deal. It is factually inaccurate. What would be accurate & true is if you said Blank put pressure on the GWCCA/Atlanta City Council by using the threat of moving the Falcons out of Atlanta & into a neighboring suburb of Atlanta like Doraville, Hapeville or Duluth where he could've got bigger subsidies from those counties to build his stadium

How would that not be a factor in a city caving in to get a new stadium built?:mindblown: and I'm not just speaking on ATL. The Viking fans marched to city hall to save the team from leaving. And I'm not pumpin' up LA or whatever.. whether we get a team or not is whatever.

And you're acting like I started the rumor of the Falcons leaving to LA. :heh: that's the media. Why is LA even brought up then in the first place. And if there's truly-absolutely no threat whatsoever like you say there is then why aren't these city officials and citizens telling these team owners like Author Blank to dead that bullshyt, stfu and enjoy the stadium they already play in cause they're not getting shyt. ATL caved in real quick. So did Indy and Minny because there is a real threat. There's all kinds of players pop up into play behind closed doors. Billionaires wanting in on the action, Goodell pulling some strings, people that can make a lease go away for a nice fee or a small percentage of the team, etc. you name it.

You say there's no threat, I disagree. Something happens behind these closed doors. Cats try to laugh it off like whatever, but after the Browns left Cleveland they know nothing is out of the realm of possibility.

:snoop: Get the fu*k out of this thread. We gonna build a new system. You acting like those clowns on TATF. Seeing how you posting, I bet you are one of those clowns on TATF. This is not even a big deal. If LA want a team, Minnesota, Buffalo, or Oakland might be a good choice.

What are you talking about? I didn't start this thread nor start the rumor. My whole discussion was teams using LA as leverage to get their present city to build a new stadium. But the shyt was in the news breh on numerous sites. Falcons to L.A. a very long shot - NFC South Blog - ESPN
