Blank is putting up 800 million and said he will be paying for over any overages or extra costs the stadium has.

The city will be putting up 200 million by adding what will basically be a tourism tax in the form hotel taxes and taxes on destination places.

The people in the city will not be affected by it with the plan they agreed to today. Basically the city of Atlanta is banking on already being a top travel destinaton fitting the 200 million dollar stadium bill that would ultimately make it an even bigger travel spot with MLS, the Superbowl, and World Cup possibly coming here.

if Blank is footing most of the deal with his own income, I see little wrong with this.

Is it me who just knows this but doesn't the NFL have a surplus that teams can use to upgrade and renovate stadiums? Why isn't he dipping into that pot?

It's a low interest loan fund.

The so-called G4 financing plan is based on a provision in the new collective bargaining agreement that allows up to 1.5% of league revenue to be credited for new stadium costs. Yesterday the NFL approved specific language that could allow up to $200 million to be allocated to building new stadiums in a team’s home market.

Here are some of the key details of the new financing plan (via footballphds.com)

Up to $200 million for new stadium construction
Up to $250 million for stadium renovation
Repayment of G4 financing by the team over 15 years through revenues related to premium seating;
G4 loans to teams will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the NFL;
G4 loans are available to only public-private stadium projects..

That is just pure stadium cost. There are local infrastructure cost that the City itself will have to cover that are undetermined right now. Blank pledged 50 million separately to that that is far from resolved.

And another 15 million from his charity into the neighborhoods around the new stadium...I think they did a similar deal for the Vine City community around the Georgia Dome when it was built

Blank's putting up $800million of his own money for this stadium :wow:

$200 million from the City coming from Hotel taxes (Not contributing any of that myself having already booked my hotel room in Downtown ATL next week :troll:)

Yeah, Farmers Field in LA is a reality waiting to happen. They just need a team to move there. Farmers Sponsor Deal is $700 million alone :mindblown:

Where are they purposing the new stadium be built? I've heard where the Yellow Lot currently is, but is this confirmed?

Farmers field is likely dead..

Less than six months after the L.A. city council voted unanimously to support AEG's plan, the concept is essentially dead to the NFL, according to two sources. The problems with the plan are numerous, but the most essential one is the economics.

AEG's proposed NFL football stadium, to be named Farmers Field, is depicted next to Staples …
"The numbers just don't work, no matter how you look at the deal," a league source said in February. "It's either too hard for AEG to make money [and pay the debt on the stadium] or too hard for the team. I just can't see a way for it to work."
