I thought he told Nore to go make another song with Pharell,as if the other ones he did with Pharell wasn't trash:mjlol:

And he didn't find DMX or Jay-Z,still haven't been impressed yet by this thread.

How does Lyor get more respect than even sumbody like Irv?He's on the bottom of the food chain when it comes to "visionarys" in hiphop....For him to get the credit he does is a joke:mjlol:
Dudes gone ignore this post:scust:

All Lyor's "successes" was brought to him by someone else.

Kanye West (Dame)
DMX, Jay-Z, Ja Rule (Irv Gotti)
Ludacris (Scarface)
:francis: of course they were, that's what you hire a&r's for, to bring you artists. then you listen to those artists and decide if you want to sign them or not. just like the c.e.o. of a car company doesn't design cars himself, he lays out a general strategy of which markets and segments the company should tackle and then sings off on what cars are going to get build.

The only person I know that Lyor legit went to get himself that ended up successful was Warren G.

Only know the 90's brehs and not know the history before then. I wish you people would research before saying shyt like this...

Is he that wrong? I mean...I know more of Lyor's moves that were bad ideas than I know good ones...

This dude has to be the most overhyped piece of shyt exec in rap history.

What are his wins? Being white? Doing some shyt in he 80s?

No one fukks with this dude and they all say how he passed on elite artists.
Man gtfoh...
He's a music exec it's his job to invest in the artists and acts that he seems having the greatest return. Kanye got very very lucky his outer packaging did not match what was hot before he came out.
And the young guns ain't did a got damn thing since so he wasn't wrong about them. No music exec is a perfect no miss guy. Every person with longevity in the biz has passed on someone who blew up.
If I'm not mistaken TI could have signed to cash money but they passed on him.

so every exec is just batting 100%??

all these labels top execs have been fired before (not Lyor tho).. go down the list starting with Clive Davis.

So nobody in here can come in here and discredit Lyor. His record is on par with any top music executive

He must be good at what he does, but yes he has missed some but who doesn't?

Kanye was a gamble at the time! some didn't believed but luckily some did and he made it.

They all went through him for a reason though. Irv brought DMX to Lyor... through that he got his own look with Ja.

From the Biggs interview, Rocafella had two options and the Def Jam one was the more attractive.

Of all the NY record label big wigs Irv had the ear of Lyor - that meant something. Even then signing DMX was going against industry trend.

Kanye he was very removed but he didn't drop him when he wanted to. That would've been a massive blemish on his career. He didn't, the people HE helped put in positions of power eventually believed in him and wa-la.

Don't know enough about Luda getting signed. But it all happened in the house Lyor help build at the end of the day.

Birdman didn't discover Nicki or Drake. But they came up under someone HE put in a position of power so he gets some credit

Allegedly tho. And thats ONLY because they wanted Snoop right after Chronic-before Doggystyle came out. Suge became heated & thats why he had issues with Russell & Lyor over that.

Yup, but at the same time i dont think its uncommon. Allegedly Rick Ruben really the one who came with the Def Jam idea..but the rest is history. I think it happens often in the music industry. People love to take credit for every success if you notice. Everybody was "suppose to sign.." or whatever after they become succesful. I think in the entertainment biz shyt like that is used to leverage other oppurtunities. So muthafukkas make shyt up all the time.
