And a cell phone used to be a device that just did calls and text. now If a phone didn't have a camera on it would you even buy it? If Apple put out the iPhone 6 and it had less features and functionality than the iPhone 5s that's cool right? Do you also praise Nintendo for putting out a box that simply plays games and for focusing on games as well?I thought these were videogames consoles? Wasn't that the argument last gen when all you heard was "we just wanna play games" when bluray was in the PS4?
Smart TVs exist now so the shyt we had built in last gen's consoles are not needed on the new ones. The basics are still there with hulu, netflix, etc.
I'm glad that Sony focused on gaming with the PS4 instead of the shyt MS tried. And the people have spoken as well with their wallets.

You'd have to be a corporate apologist to find a way to spin a company following up a product with a newer more expensive one that has less features than the previous version.
No its not anti-consumer DRM policies and an inflated price tag due to them packing Kinect in and raising the console's price are why they're in the position they're in now.
Before the Xbox One came out I was one of its biggest critics here. I bought one and used it and I'll be damned its my preferred Blu-Ray player, I plugged my cable box up to it and to this day still use it with that also. Having voice commands integrated into my cable and movie watching experience is better than I thought and I don't want to go back to not having those.
There are other devices that people already have that do the job better though.
And we know the real reason for this......unlike MS....Sony has Movies, TV, and Music under their umbrella. They want you to buy directly from them to own/stream from the PS4 rather than downloaded on your PC so they can get that money.
I'm sure you will agree that is the real reason for the lack of DLNA support. They still haven't caught up with the other gaming features yet.
I'd rather them catch up on the gaming features first (which I'd take over the other media capabilities) than anything. Shareplay will be dope. Now just give us our suspend/resume and then you can implement the DLNA shyt. I play my music through my soundbar from my phone, so I don't really care for the music shyt (and most honestly don't). TV show/movie streaming from your pc is more important IMO. And even if they don't do that at all, I'm good since my TV does DLNA built in for both movies/tv shows and music.
Even without the Kinect and anti consumer policies, it was still a weaker console. While the Kinect/NSA shyt and anti-consumer policies were rediculous, the power difference alone would have had the PS4 ahead as well. While the sales gap may not have been as big, the PS4 would still have been ahead for the simple fact that the Playstation Brand is stronger worldwide than the Xbox. That's a fact. No spin needed. The differences in performance between them wouldn't disappear.

Caught up with what gaming features? The day the PS4 launched as a pure gaming box it was equal to the PS3. I just think that before your new tech product hits the market it should be able to match all the features the old one had. Is that unreasonable to expect?
The whole game industry is plagued with this we'll launch it prematurely and fix it later mentality. Its so bad that now gamers defend it. We aren't talking about adding new features we're talking about getting this thing back up to the same full feature set the box that cost $199 has when this one is $399.

historically the most powerful console has almost never been the best selling console. The power difference is fuel for fanboy wars on the internet. the common consumer doesn't really perceive it like the guys who argue online about this stuff. The Xbox One is in the ballpark of a PS4 and passes the looks good enough threshold. This isn't like the Wii vs the Xbox 360 or PS3. Its not that drastic a difference.
What I'm saying is Microsoft is in this position because they thought they could dictate to the market things like DRM and Kinect being mandatory. They pissed off a lot of their fans. We're in the early adapter phase right now and the market is far more sensitive to stuff like that. Not because their box has extra functionality the competition doesn't.
From a consumer standpoint is it reasonable to expect....I agree....but from a company standpoint....no. You gotta push your own shyt to generate more revenue . You think Sony would rather have someone stream 22 Jump Street or the new Drake Album that they downloaded on their PC or buy it to own/rent from the PS Store or Music Unlimited? We know the answer. I know it sucks for those who want to do that, but again, there are other options to do use DLNA other than the PS4.
And MS having fat heads after the success of the 360 had them thinking they were gonna be able to do anything they want and get away with it? These are the same cats that started the whole paying for online multiplayer bullshyt that Xbox fans had no problem defending for damn near 10 years even though they got nothing for free out of it. Easy money and revenue for MS. Free apps on other devices hidden behind a fukkin paywall?
The real reason there is a HUGE backlash against it is because you buy a console first and foremost to play games. Yes, it can do other shyt. The gaming features Sony promised are still not there yet like I mentioned (specifically suspend/resume). Get those promises complete first because that matters to my gaming experience. While it would be nice, I don't need my PS4 to do that other shyt. MS did that and it came at the expense of the system's power/price.
Maybe others will get the hint now too. Concentrate on your main purpose first before trying to do everything. These ADD mufukkaz are rediculous.

It's fun because it does....you know...play fukking games first and foremost???? No one uses the browser like that (cats use phones, tablets). Netflix, Hulu, and the other main apps are there (which again are the main multimedia apps people use on consoles...and that is a FACT). Not having DLNA yet is fukked up, but like I told @winb83 , that is clearly by design so that cats will buy direct from Sony.
