Caught up with what gaming features? The day the PS4 launched as a pure gaming box it was equal to the PS3. I just think that before your new tech product hits the market it should be able to match all the features the old one had. Is that unreasonable to expect?

The whole game industry is plagued with this we'll launch it prematurely and fix it later mentality. Its so bad that now gamers defend it. We aren't talking about adding new features we're talking about getting this thing back up to the same full feature set the box that cost $199 has when this one is $399.

It's funny because on the other side of the coin, I see a bunch of complaining and "concern" from cats online whenever a game is delayed or what not. With the PS4, it's better to have the main functionality work out the box and add features and things later instead of holding it back and releasing it when everything is good to go.

PS3 didn't launch with all the features people praise it for back in 06. If anything, expecting things to work like how cell phones work in the sense of existing features seems ignorant.

Consoles and cell phones aren't remotely comparable. A cell phone usually has a base design and a continually updated OS that's backwards compatible most of the time. It isn't like the PS4 launched with the XMB, it's a totally different interface and architecture so it's not a matter of copy and paste.

Adding to that, the new features and improvements the PS4 has in addition to the snappiness of the UI trump any features it's lacking presently. I'd take a faster OS, multitasking(Being able to switch between netflix and a game with the tap of a button), zippy installs, the soon to come shareplay, streaming to twitch/ustream and video/picture features over DLNA and MP3 playback.


Priorities are obviously set in place now. Had the PS4 been late to the game with what it has now and instead prioritized having last gen features day 1, it would've been a bunch of threads where people would call the PS4 PS3.5. Basically, this whole "wahh I can't stream movies to my PS4" fiasco or whatnot is going to be moot sooner or later. With how antiquated PC's are today especially in the living room, I can't see how your media needs can't be satisfied already.

I have a PC hooked up to my TV, I literally don't even need the PS4 for none of that unless I'm already on it and even then it's nothing but a switch of the input to hop back on the superior PC anyway.

And the Xbox One is doing something? As a STB it's very basic. All it does is change channels and volume. Smart TVs have been doing that for years now through HDMI control just like the Xbox One does.

MKV Playback? Not even a big deal. A feature that is going to be used by a small fraction of Xbox One owners anyhow.The Wii U is venturing into Social and Co-op Gaming.

The PS4 is an improvement over PS3 in gaming. The Xbox One is media focused and not focused in gaming.

You can buy a cheap $100 Roku, Fire, etc that can do more than the Xbox One can do right now. If someone wanted to, a PS4 + Roku is a much more powerful combination than a Xbox One.

The guy claims the Xbox One Kinect is an innovation but the fact remains that the Kinect has yet to bring any innovation to gaming since the original launched on the Xbox 360.

Could it be an innovative tool? Possibly.
Has it been? No.

As a person with an Xbox One and a Roku. I don't use my Roku anymore because my Xbox does everything my Roku does.... and then it does 2million more things. Only thing a PS4 does that an XB1 cannot is play Knack/Killzone/Infamous.

Just in the last console generation more people bought the Wii than any other console. Historically the best selling console is almost never the most powerful. The gen before that it was the PS2 again the weakest and the one before that it was the Playstation, the weakest. Even if the Kinect was packed in at 399, I already said the race would be closer but PS4 would still be in the lead due to Playstation Brand having a stronger following worldwide. That is undeniable. The DRM debacle still would have left a bad taste in many cats mouth though.

History always tends to rewrite itself.....PS4 will win this gen barring a catastrophic collapse. Unlike the 360, the Sony won't blow a lead like they have now. The most powerful console will win this gen. And while the weakest was the one that usually came out on top, it actually had more to do with timing than anything. Saturn and PS1 launched damn near at the same time, but Sega's bumblefukkness and mufukkaz tired of Nintendo being Deebo opened the door for the PS1. PS2 came out after the Dreamcast, but again Sega being bumblefukks killed the Dreamcast. Xbox came out last in the game then. MS abandoned the OG Xbox to launch the 360 and beat everyone to the gate. Similar to what we see now, the Price of the PS3 severely hampered it out the gate. We all know that if the PS3 launched at 399 it probably would have been another gen in a row for Sony.
