but im not gonna sit here and debate with your fox news

This is how you know you are dealing with someone that is really not worth debating with. As soon as someone goes against what they say, they retort to Fox News....no doubt he'll bring up the Koch brothers next. Truly one of the most sickening displays of hypocrisy ever. Calling out folks for watching Fox News while he repeats a bunch of nonsense you can go listen to Nancy Grace shout about on MSNBC any second of the day.

So let me get this straight, since we are going the straw man route, stealthbomber....is someone who is unable to afford a 300 dollar a month plan and chooses to pay the fine if they don't qualify for an exemption an instant fox news watcher? I personally don't watch Fox News or any of the Left leaning rags either because they are full of bias. Based on the talking points you drop nonstop, if demon does watch Fox News(nothing in the way he presents his arguments implies this tbh...but yours sure do...especially the never ending reliance on charts) then you are no better as your talking points sound even more parroted than his own.

The system wasn't too hot before......but it's dropped about 50 degrees cooler at this point. So say the Koch Brothers....or anybody with eyes. Whoever happens to be the Boogeyman of the Week for you clowns.

the mafia forced people to pay for protection from the mafia

the affordable healthcare act is encouraging people to get health insurance because it's a smart thing to do. and if they don't they pay a small fine. not to mention health insurance is now cheaper, people get better coverage and insurance companies can't discriminate against people with preexisting conditions.

but im not gonna sit here and debate with your fox news bullshyt so again, kill yourself

that goes to all you fukk faces in here who have no idea what you're talking about

youre a fukking liberal fakkit idiot.

do you realize there is no encouragement?

you imbecile. people are being FORCED. thats not encouragement, you liberal fakkit.

and many people simply CANNOT afford these plans

stay in your liberal bubble, fakkit

the irony of you calling my statement a straw man because of one sentence and then continuing to straw man this entire post reeks of ignorance. if you have no input please sit down.

we can argue all day about the fine and that's reasonable. personally, i think the raise in prices are pretty steep. $700 in 2016 is excessive (although there are exemptions).. ill be graduating then and probably will pay that if my job doesn't offer insurance :yeshrug: but the point of it is to get people signed up for health care, which is a good thing for the system. uninsured people getting hurt and sick strain the system and force the govt to cover their expenses. thats why there's a fine, it goes towards their own health care.

in the long term this will cause a massive drop in health care prices.

sometimes as a society we have to make sacrifices to better ourselves. im sure the generation that adopted sales tax wasn't too happy, but in the long run it ended up pretty helpful.

so their better off being uninsured? and then when they get sick the govt should just cover all their costs?

Single Payer is a huge start tho, to me its the ideal system to have but we gotta improve our standards overall and focus on prevention so we're not ending up with all these sick people. But you're right, a lot of other things need to be cleaned up and that's more so a battle with big business owning our govt in general than just health care alone. But the argument is big pharma's incentive is the big profits and exclusive rights, if we do away with that how much does things change? Hopefully our generation strengthens the progressive base enough for us to clean things up.

Yeah I've heard about Maryland's law, the county my dad lives in has free health and dental I'm not sure if its the same where I am. If nothin else, a state single payer would be cool with me. I know DC has free healthcare for residents for sure, I've been thinkin of moving there anyway. :ehh:
Yeah, but what I'm getting at is health insurers only have a 2.2% profit margin whereas the sellers of healthcare services and supplies (pharma) have a 20% profit margin. That is why shyt is so costly. They can set their own prices. I'm saying that the umbrella of "we hate these big insurance companies" (who can be heartless) is misdirecting the blame and allowing those dudes to sit in the back like they're not on some bullshyt. The whole point of a public option is to have the government sit across the table from those pharmaceutical companies and set prices and bargain just like they do with Medicare. The PPACA actually does institute some of what Maryland is trying to do by creating networks that basically operate like that plan. I actually didn't know that DC provided free care, it's crazy that I never heard of that all that time I was there. Then again, I doubt those rich people on the HIll cared :russ:. But we're all more progressive than we were in 2008, but I still think we have to work with what is here while working towards something better. My boy is our age battling cancer and grew up in Harlem, he never had healthcare before now. I can't overlook stuff like that.

Out here in my damn drawls
Do you realize how expensive medical care is for the uninsured?
Monthly payments on a fortune aren't going to cut it.

I got laid off, my excellent healthcare benefits ran out at the end of the month.
A couple of months later, I end up in the ER in incredible pain
Turns out I had a kidney stone that blocking the exit from my kidney.
Spent a day and a half in the hospital, didn't even have a real surgery.
The bill for that stay was $36k.
Imagine if you're in any type of accident that requires a surgery and hospitalization?
What kind of payment plan do you think you're going to be able to manage?

Sounds like the problem is the cost of healthcare, which hasn't been addressed, the same with higher education

Duly noted, which is why I said we in our generation got a lot of cleaning up to do in that regard. I knew in the back of my mind SP might be tough but I really wanted the PO to keep the private health sector honest and not hike the prices on us some more. A lot of people are gettin filthy fukkin rich off people's suffering, and our lifestyles and diets don't help. I pretty much call all processed foods "poison" now because my sister died from colon cancer last year and she was only 10 years older than me. I got into shopping at Whole Foods and cooking my own meals cuz seeing my sister die is the first time I felt my own mortality. I got a family history of diabetes, cancer, all types of fukk shyt so I'm paranoid and try to eat more organic foods but its hard to drop all the bullshyt we've learned to enjoy through the years. Our issues have so many layers, even if we clean up aspects of healthcare itself it won't help if people are still being dumbasses buying 7-11 pizzas and soda. It's why I feel so strongly about this, it almost feels like we're unknowingly drawn into becoming a part of the cash cow for big pharma and the health care barons.

Yeah tho the Hill is far removed from the rest of the District its like two different worlds, but DC has free health/dental care that's one of the reasons why foreigners live in the city its a great benefit to have. DC itself has pretty progressive laws, which is ironic given whom resides in the Capitol at this present date.

Sounds like the problem is the cost of healthcare, which hasn't been addressed, the same with higher education

Another huge problem.
