I never thought he was, I thought he'd be able to mobilize his own party enough to bring some real changes. Blue dogs fukked it up in the end more than the GOP did, dude had a majority and still wanted to play nice with the GOP knowing damn well they wanted to sabotage everything he attempted to do. Not to mention it was Obama that ended up taking SP off the table without a fight and eventually the PO was doomed to not make it. I understand it wasn't just Obama at fault, but his pandering to Rethugs and willingness to go back on the things his campaigned on was a huge letdown. Honestly, I only voted in 2012 so Romney wouldn't get into office. From here on out if I do ever vote I'm choosing the most progressive candidates if I vote at all.
the problem was congress....youre right in that he couldnt get support from his own party...too many of them were more worried about staying in office instead of doing whats was right for the people...he had no choice but to drop SP...without support and votes it wasnt gonna pass...the version we have now barely got thru....
politics....meh

Obama and his whole family.

but the point of it is to get people signed up for health care, which is a good thing for the system. uninsured people getting hurt and sick strain the system and force the govt to cover their expenses. thats why there's a fine, it goes towards their own health care.
