Nothing crazy cuz I don't have any certs, just fukking with tablets, changing passwords in Active Directory type shyt and shootin dice :unimpressed:

Two thoughts though... One, I don't think this shyt is for me. I been talking with those (brehs in particular) doing more advanced shyt and I'm sure they're eating good, but it's not creative enough for me :russell:

More importantly, we seriously need more black tech companies. I stumbled across so many companies over the past year caping for the LGBT community and now I see first hand it ain't just PR, it's in the workspace too. Nothing against them but :gucci: Same goes for women. Again, nothing against them but I noticed a lot in my department. Been shadowing this one brehito over the past two days and he told me how top manager (who's a woman) really ain't tryna let you move up or elsewhere if you ain't a woman. Brehito been there two years and some girl that's been there 2 months is gonna be his Level II partner-- when he knows more than her :mjtf:

Add in the traditional tech sector that's a good ol boy network and damn... It's not a surprise on paper but I guess I had to see it. Still finna sharpen my skills and build my own :lawd: but yeah, the need for black (male at that) owned and thriving tech companies is real.

We need standards of living businesses first to help introduce more black tech

The Truth
Well if you’re just changing passwords in AD then you probably just doing some help desk shyt

can’t get too creative there honestly

and if you want to build your own your best bet is either to start coding or get enough certs in either network administration or cyber security where you can start consulting or contracting

I'm a coding type, always knew it but I been talking to people in data and security, networking... it just all sounds boring (to me) I need to CREATE. Fresh ideas :ohlawd:

I flirted with a Management Consulting job til they told me I'm "overqualified" so I could see it there. Catching the gaps and providing solutions :wow: I'd prolly have a lot to learn before that.

Are you sure? You can never be “overqualified” for management consulting. I’m talking McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Big 4?

If you’re doing help desk stuff right now, I don’t think the other job was real management consulting. You typically need an MBA for that at a top school.

It wasn't the big 4 but it was a legit consulting company, about the rank of Accenture, etc

Norfeast groovin…
I’m working on my CCNA and my CySA/CEH/Sec+/Net+ certs. Once I add AWS and CCNA CyOps with that I’m gonna just go into consulting and have my own business. I’ll prolly need a few years work experience so I’ve been networking with some places but hopefully I can just skip that and get to the consulting part.

Sys Engineer, working as a cloud storage admin as part of my latest promotion. Branching off into building my own business for the past few years, non-tech related....

I say build up your resume for the next year, two years max, then hop onto to another job with more pay.

That is the only way you can earn as a straight Black man in this field is by job hopping....
