I dunno where in London you're from but getting onto a trade course really isn't difficult. I had a friend that flopped his GCSEs but managed to get onto a Bricklaying course at Lewisham College. I have another friend was about that life, got locked up at 18 came out at 20 realised it was time to get his life together and through doing a vocational course became a registered gas fitter and now lives happily with his kid and wife.

I don't know how it is for other states, but that's how it went for me in Michigan. I know it's possible in other states, I just don't know the options. With what I did I landed a job $25/hour starting for a fortune 500 company. I know it sounds too good to be true, but shyt like this does exist.

All it costed me was that $700 class, I got a certificate at the end of the course.

fukk the time frame, just call them tomorrow. Have a legit convo and express how bad you want this. Make a great first impression and let them know how hard you are willing to work
Last question, how far was into the course before you got a job?
I didn't get an opportunity to test for a job until about a year after I got my certificate. When I failed I had to wait a year because for some reason they make you wait a year to re-test/re-apply to the job if you fail.
its harder for a young blacc male wit long hair to get a job, den it is for a ex conEXACTLY. All my brehs who got kicked out of school didn't get to GCSE's or went jail were able to start over with a trade.

as @kp404 said, put on a nice outfit, comb your hair, go down there, explain your situation to them (no job prospects, GCSE's) you want this and you want to turn your life around.

If you know the barriers, then why don't you knock em' down? You really want to do it then cut your hair. It will grow back, but you need to get in the door to knock the house down
