I left my job not too long ago, and I'm looking to get into the courier business. I have my van already, and I've been getting contacted by a couple of companies that I've applied to. There's an option for me to stay local, or go over the road, in which I will be driving all over the country.

Driving locally, I would make more than enough money for me too take care of myself and stack some paper, I'll be home every night, and I won't have to work weekends.

Over the road pays significantly more money, with potential to make 50 to 60% more than driving locally. However, I will be gone about 4 weeks at a time, including weekends.

Have any of you done, or know anyone that has done this before? Any tips? I'm thinking about going local, but I did not want to get with The Local Company, only to leave it for over the road, and then not like it.

Good for you

You should also consider transporting the elderly to nursing homes if your van has seating. Have 2 businesses with the same vehicle

For me, I feel it's better to be out in the field than to be couped up in an office all day, less stress/ignorant people you gotta deal with on a daily basis

I have a cargo van. Unfortunately, it only has the driver and passenger seats

Start reaching out to florists to do deliveries on Valentine's Day or places like edible arrangements. You can clean up that day. Also look at garden nurseries around spring.
