He was running businesses since he was 12 years old. Pinball machines. Newspaper routes. Baseball cars. Investing. Had the equivalent of $90,000 by the time he was in college.

Went to Penn transferred back to Nebraska. Went to Columbia Business School. Worked for a few years. Started up an investment fund with about $100,000 from various friends and family. In 10 years, dude was rich. From what I recall, the best purchase he made in terms of whole companies was GEICO. Rich people don't get rich from being cheap/penny pinching. They get rich from having substantial vehicles of income. Saving money is only 1/5th of the equation of becoming rich.

Years ago there was a story that Warren Buffett still lives in the same house he bought in the 1950s.
A LOT of people on the coli and online tried to say the story was trash and that Warren likely had vacation homes all over the world.
