Musically he can't be stopped. He has a great ear for production, can bar any track up and has a good conscious appeal to the black plight and relationships. His music over the last 2 years since the Shine brick has been outstanding. To me he is a top 3 rapper alive. His enunciation/delivery can be frustrating though.
Commercially he needs to leave MMG and push the EBM label as the lead guy. He's been in the game too long to still be seen as Ross' lil guy. You have to be seen as a boss to stay commercially successful for long periods in hip hop. Can't be up under another rapper for too long. His same arrrogant attitude wouldn't be a problem if people saw him running shyt, but arrogance as a worker doesn't fly in the rap world.
Here are the top guys and you can't think of a rapper they report to
Drake is seen more as OVO than YMCMB
Cole is Dreamville and mostly seen as his own guy
Kendrick is the lead man for TDE
Jay is obviously Jay
Ye is Ye
Em got the Dre cosign early but it was clear he was his own guy
Future is his own guy
Jeezy was CTE
Ross is the lead guy at MMG
Meek is MMG, but everybody that knows Meek knows he reps Dreamchasers harder. He is Dreamchasers
If you aren't seen as a boss type, your career has a ceiling. Part ways, drop these same hits and he'll rise back to the top tier. Can't continue to beg for sympathy from fans about label issues, release dates, fan support etc. if you aren't willing to step out there and bet on yourself. He needs to clean that and his interviews up. Bring better energy and have a song/ep/album to push when you do these press runs.
