Ok op let me be clear, because I don’t want it taken to grim and literal. As long as you have a plan, you can live wherever you want, and Atlanta is a great place for black people to live. Black politicians. More black cops vs white ones. And yes black people in good corporate positions. But I was born and raised here and most of my family comes from up north and a large portion of them have moved down here. So I’m speaking in regards to people who come here and it ain’t what they thought, so you don’t get influenced by them. There are plenty of diverse companies, but it’s still like other cities in regards to your workplace. Don’t apply for jobs on linked in thinking the owner is black. Because 9 times out of 10 it will not be. That has nothing to do with the company not being diverse or saying it doesn’t have black people at top positions, but that fact means it’s no easier here getting a job vs other places. Overpopulation is not literal like you can’t breathe. What I mean is that gentrification is real here, and black people are being pushed further away from the city because the prices in the city are getting higher and higher due to so many people moving here. So cost of living is what attracted many black people back in the day. It’s an expensive city now

there is no reason you can’t make it here. If you are a hard worker and all that, it will be easy for you. Plenty of diverse businesses. Definitely Delta. (I don’t work there) I’m just sick and tired of people moving here taking the “Wakanda shyt so literal”. Great city for black people. Houston is too, but people still got the same struggles and everybody not movie stars. It’s jobs here and you will be fine. There are homes here as well. Culture and a lot more. But people watch too many movies and think that the real people From Atlanta all living glamorous and leave and talk shyt when that don’t happen to them.

so you will be fine. It’s a great city to live in. Just don’t be like those other people. Who not willing to put the work in. I’m sure you will be fine.

born and raised here... and I been around the world and love it here the most. Great place to raise a family

Im a hard worker and I run my own business where I live. I was considering moving down that way from here in Chicago..

nikkas ran this city into the ground and its not worth living in this dump any longer.. :mjcry:

It’s a very silly thing to do. Moving somewhere without a plan or a job waiting for you will forever be retarded to me.

even if you trying to enter an industry you at least need a basic jobs for needs

People who do dumb shyt like this was probably failures in the location they're moving from..

Moved here 3 years ago. It’s been one of the best decisions I made.

I love being around black people. I love being able to go to College Park, and take my pick of eating establishments, and knowing that they are all black owned. The neighborhood I live in is all black, and we have not had to deal with any trouble. Also, being an engineer, there have been no shortage of job opportunities. I was laid off during the early part of the pandemic, and was able to find another job pretty quick.

There’s always something for my family and I to do, and even though we don’t live in the actual city of Atlanta, it only takes us 15 to 20 mins to get downtown. My parents live in Mississippi and the rest of my family live in North Carolina. It’s a 5 hour drive to either, and that’s not bad at all. It allows for my fam to be in my little girls life, and that’s what I want. Plus, my child’s mother lives here and is from here, and her family being here has helped with that as well.

I don’t intend on staying here, as I’ve always said I’d move back home to North Carolina at some point, but for the moment I’m content. Atlanta has been good to me and mine, and if you come with the right mindset, it will be to you as well. Man, I just love being around my people and ATL gives plenty of that

Of course the ATL

shyt sounds ludicrous but he was working at BMW corporate off 85 near Greenville making good change and had a spot in both cities. It was roughly and hour and a half so he’d leave the house at 7, have to be at work at 9 and get off at 4-5. Get home by 6-6:30

It sounds crazy but it’s a lot of people pre Covid commuting that long and living in the metro area so :yeshrug: That’s more driving than I would want to do daily but I know another guy who lives in Commerce, Ga and commutes into the city of Atlanta (Buckhead) making 6 figures. That’s a smooth 1hour and 15 min drive with no traffic. Y’all be surprised how long people will commute for a check

I honestly think some of y’all watch too many movies and I say that with respect.

What the hell you need to leave in the middle of the night for? Just pack up your shyt accordingly and leave normally. You know what I mean? A move like this is a big deal and should be planned out and thought through.

Unless he lived in Athens, you not making it to Greenville in 1.5 hours and that would even be a stretch.

Support is tremendous throughout the city and there is a lot of support for black owned businesses locally...it’s a strong ecosystem designed to support local entrepreneurs

I only had 3k but that was just me and I was relatively younger too. That was enough to get me a spot (rent and deposit) and have a month’s rent on hold while I got myself settled in and figured out how I was going to make more money.

Plus, I had that one friend from college who was working here with americorps and she let me stay with her for a couple of weeks before I got my own spot.

It was a risk but it paid off big in the end. Who knows what the fukk I’d be doing in Greensboro right now if I hadn’t moved. Working some job i don’t like for sure. Making no money. In a city I hate. No. Not me

@Chairface Chippendale nowadays how much money would you recommend having saved up?
