So is it really unadvisable to move to Atlanta?

How much money would you advise having saved
I only had 3k but that was just me and I was relatively younger too. That was enough to get me a spot (rent and deposit) and have a month’s rent on hold while I got myself settled in and figured out how I was going to make more money.

Plus, I had that one friend from college who was working here with americorps and she let me stay with her for a couple of weeks before I got my own spot.

It was a risk but it paid off big in the end. Who knows what the fukk I’d be doing in Greensboro right now if I hadn’t moved. Working some job i don’t like for sure. Making no money. In a city I hate. No. Not me

your stars are but dust on my shoes
I like what someone else said on here... Moving to a new city to start a new life isn't suddenly going to change your shytty work ethic and aspirations. Wherever you end up, you better work hard cause it's not like they just gonna roll out a red carpet for you in the ATL. If your opportunity leads you to ATL, take it.

Don't move to Atlanta unless you wanna be in entertainment...

Seriously...

Like that Black Mecca shyt is overrated...

You better off going somewhere that isn't ran by Black nepotism and White money...

Go where you'll stand out and be special...Atlanta ain't that place...

Atlanta, LA, NYC, San Fran... is somewhere you go because you wanna be a star...not because you wanna start a life...and if you wanna start a life...you better go to those places with a job lined up and friends and family...

You better off going to a 2nd tier metro area like Raleigh-Durham

You can go to Denver...

You can go to Austin...

Atlanta ain't all that...really not....people overrate the place like they do NYC and LA...

Atlanta, NYC, LA are for stars...it's the playground of the rich and famous...not for regular motherfukkers...people that in those places...that ain't stars...most of them are stuck...

This

especially as a woman, don't take offense I don't know how important a relantionship and a "good man" is to you but if you value that family life and wanna settle down one day I would reconisder.

I wouldn't go anywhere that's mostly run of black nepotism and white money like CM said. It gets tiring especially if you can't fit into the proper social cirles.

I would consider a second or maybe third tier city where you can stand out, even a conservative ran cac stronghold you'd probably be more seen and get more back from the people around you.

If I could do it over again I would have left Miami 20 years ago and go to Alabama or something more conservative ran instead of hitting the urban stronghold cities where it's a "get in how you fit in" mentality. I know dudes living quite well in Jacksonville and Tampa, a simple quiet life with a good woman beats the 24-7 struggle for attention and value.

I’ve been contemplating just leaving in the night and going, just to follow my dreams of independence but based on past posts many of you advise against the mass migration to the A.

Have any of you ever just pack up a bag and leave without intentions of returning? How did it go for you?

Always wish that is really u in ur avi...Cause id marry u :sadcam:

South Side Chicago to Nola
When I moved to NOLA from NC, I had no intentions of returning and haven’t. 7 years later, I’ve done a lot more than I would have if I stayed in NC

I advise having a game plan though. I went with money saved and a friend that said I could stay with her until I found what I needed.

Best move i made was to Nola, love it here

I lived in Atlanta from 06-14 it was a great city period, but too often nikkas get hyped thinking Atlanta is this oasis that’s going to change your life, have a job before you move, period.

The great thing about atl whatever you are into they got it, art, museum, food, concerts, strip clubs, etc

I never felt this thought that i had to compete, half the time them chicks you think are out of your range, leave the club in a 95-02 Honda and probably got 2-3 roommates.

You can find plenty love in atl

It’s a lot more spread out than you think

Traffic is a pain in the ass.....

Save enough to get your apt and deposit and a month extra

Try staying outside metro Atlanta it will be cheaper on your pockets

If a place is on your mind, your body, mind, heart, won’t rest until you explore it, so do what you have to do to get to your vision

Facts. Most people just want a regular life without the stress that big cities bring. I'm trying to move to Denver and be done with it
