No disrespect but you're basically regurgitating the same lingo that's been spew 100 times and trying to pass it off as new revelation. He made they type of music he made and it is what it is. It has nothing to do with the fans.
What are you talking about? It has everything to do with the fans. They're the ones that purchase the music/concert tickets, etc, even if their favorite artist isn't buzzing on radio anymore.
And don't give me that "His genius is so expansive he needs years to cook". He himself said he made like 40 or 50 songs for this album. If he wants to hoard it then fine. But me personally, I won't put him in some imaginary upper echelon of dope rappers
And one other thing. The rap game has become so one way that someone like Kenrick Lamar can make a semi social conscious album and get lauded as some ground breaking saint![]()
I don't think anything about Kendrick Lamar even approaches 'good', not to talk about upper echelon.
I agree with you in terms of him releasing more material. Dude doesn't make enduring material. And when you're in that lane, you gotta flood the market with hot records before someone takes your trap.
What made GKMC so great was that it was lyrical AND had songs that could be played in clubs and on radio. That's what made him unique. WHY can't we get both? Is that too much to ask for?
What clubs? I live in Toronto. In the last 4 months, I've partied in Toronto, Negril, Houston and Lagos. I've never heard a Kendrick record in any of those places.
I've certainly heard Drake in all those spots. I would argue that GKMC is already out of rotation for a lot of people. Time will tell if I'm right or wrong.

. Matter of fact, releasing a mixtape after the album may make the mixtape not be received as well because of how good/dense TPAB is. Not the exact same situation, but I think of Freddie Gibbs' "The Tonite Show" record from last year. It didn't seem to get a lot of reception from what I saw, and that's not because it wasn't good, but because Pinata was still resonating so well with people.
