So Mark Cuban Broke Up a Championship team for Absoutely No Reason

Miami whooped everybody back in 06. How'd they look 2 years later?

It was a calculated risk. They could have come back this year and won a title but it's unlikely. With older teams the bottom drops out fast. There's no way they have the same hunger this year that they had last year and that hunger for a ring is what got them over the hump against more talented teams. Cuban didn't wanna be stuck in no mans land with a bunch of satisfied old guys. It's better to be bad with cap room than to be mediocre with no cap room and limited options.

They peaked. You have teams that win a title and get better and become something (Bulls in 91) and there are teams that win a title and that's it (Heat in 06). Mavs were more along the lines of the Heat. The Heat took 6 years and big signings to return to prominence. Cuban basically tried to speed up the the process. If he truly believed the team could do it again I don't think he breaks them up.

They peaked. You have teams that win a title and get better and become something (Bulls in 91) and there are teams that win a title and that's it (Heat in 06). Celtics been tryna break the big 3 up. Ray Allen been almost traded numerous times. They even tried to trade Rondo a few years ago and traded Perkins.

I honestly don't think that team as constituted last year gets past OKC or even the Lakers. I believe last year was just a special year that was their year more so than a sign of things to come. That said I most certainly bring Tyson back. Maybe Cuban was convinced he could get Deron and/or Dwight.
