was chandler willing to take less money? Why are people bringing him up

I think they could have paid him but they would have been stuck with that aging core with no chance of getting better.

If he re-signed all those guys, they would have lost this year anyway and they'd have no cap space til 2015. Then the same people bytching at Cuban for breaking the team up would be saying "why the fukk did he keep this old ass team together? Deron Williams was a free agent and probably would have went there if he had cap room, what a fakkit"

I never understand why teams do this, if you just won the championship one year..

Why not do everything you can to keep that same team together for at least one more year?

There was something special about the 2011 team. I always noticed how in the last 5 minutes of games how the paint was suddenly on lockdown (Tyson). The team collectively shot threes better than usual last year, and the level of competition/amount of reps they got in practice had a direct effect on that. It would have been foolish to resign everyone from that team for more money, but Tyson Chandler should have gotten a legit contract offer at least. It's a lot easier to build around a solid frontcourt than it is to try to pair everything in one year. And apparently "you get to play with Dirk!" isn't the free agent magnet we imagined it to be.:dwillhuh:

This. They were shooting like 40% from 3. I remember watching the Laker-Mavs series like :what: Nikkaz wasn't missin' for sh*t. And about Tyson, he balled out defensively with the Knicks this year, and look were that got them. Tyson is a complementary player on a championship team, not a building block. He did the right thing, he just didn't luck out like Riley. Mavs were in position financially to get both Dwight and Deron. Pair that up with Dirk, and some core players, and they're right back in the hunt :manny:

Dirk told Kidd: 'Go to New York' - NBA - Pro Basketball - Rumors - FanNation

Jason Kidd talked to Dirk Nowitzki on Wednesday to inform him the duo that had teamed for an NBA championship would be together for three more years. Then, something happened. "I went out to play golf and I just didn't feel right," Kidd said Friday. "I talked to my wife and to Jeff [Schwartz, his agent] and they both said, if you don't feel comfortable, don't do it.'" So Kidd didn't. Sometimes, change is the most comfortable thing a person can do. Kidd said his switch on Thursday came with the blessing of Nowitzki and, largely, because the New York Knicks offered him a chance to further his legacy. If anybody can mold that group of talented but disconnected individuals into a team, it might just be Kidd. "I changed my mind, and Dirk understood," Kidd said. "When we talked, he said to go to New York."

Dirk is one of the last real nikkas alive:to:

Hopefully Cuban lets him fly this season, :pacspit: at Cuban ruining his franchise in just one year after winning the title, mind boggling

It's called a calculated risk. Mavs had one and done champ written all over them and the last thing you want as an owner is a team full of nikkas over 30 who just got rings. No way would you get as much out of them this year as you did last year. Add to that you wouldn't be able to count on OKC not being ready or Lebron going :wrist: this year. shyt didn't work out but nikkas need to stop acting like they we are talking about the 91 Bulls here. There is a big difference between a young team putting it together and winning and a team full of veterans doing it. shyt was an anomaly that we don't see regularly in the NBA. The only real comparable situation is MIA a few years ago and they were in the lottery within 2 years. I really think Cuban looked at MIA and tried to speed up the process and it didn't work. :manny:

The problem is there superstar isnt young . There's no telling when they get a player as talented as dirk again they wont be bad enough for a high lottery pick with dirk Cuban also had no plan b . Not to mention off a lockout session they might be able to repeat especially since Cuban says he felt he had the best team when they won the title.

Now it's either blow it up completely or be mediocre and hope for Dwight :scusthov: much easier to reload I figure

Cuban did the right thing, plus the run they had in 2011 gives him untouchable status in Dallas.

It's funny though because if Bron plays like Bron they wouldn't have a ring anyway and all these moves would be justified.
