Not its not because plenty of songs have taken parts of the sampled record including the hook and even parts of the verses to create a song. If this was exclusive to Puff, you'd have a point. Since its not exclusive to Puff then your entire argument falls flat.

You listed it as one of 4/5 main commercial hits that Puff helped produce.
It's not his. It's Sting and the Police.

But making beats also makes you a producer bc you produced the track.
Not necessarily. A lot of beat makers these days are like work for hire session musicians. I can buy a beat online for 50 bucks and they will have nothing to do with the finished song I create with it. Your beat is no different than a sample in that case. If I pay 500 for a guitarist to come in the studio and play for a few hours then sample something like in there for my song the guitarist didnt produce anything. I did. And a lot of beat makers are not even involved in the creation of the songs. Producing is about creating the finished product and the whole record not just 1 part( the beat etc). There are a lot of ghost producers out there that get paid but dont receive actual producer credits on albums and tracks. All your favorite super producers have ghost producers under them. That's part of the game and always has been.

"Every Breath You Take..I'll be watching you.." was the lyric...
You are kind of right..
But the original was absolutely huge!
See Puffs team took a ready made hit and copied everything.

Doesn't count.
Samples are one thing. This was beyond that.

PS. Not you as well?
How may accounts Does Razzay have on here?
I've counted at least 5.

Yeah I mean Puff and others did this countless times through the 90s - taking a prominent sample and hook, with modern production and rap verses added.

Its an uncreative, cynical approach, and its not a song I would listen to myself, but its not much different to a cover version of a popular song, or a lot of other sample based joints. A hit is a hit.

It is his song. If you can't hear the difference then that's on you. I didn't list it as a song Puff produced. I listed it as a song where he was the main or featured artist. Read my post.

My apologies.
Either way it's disqualified because the hook, Lyrics and beat are blatant.
& the track was all about the chorus.
Nobody remembers Puffs part, which he didn't write.

On the subject.. the Lox tribute to B.I.G was beautiful.

You're playing stupid at thos point.
If it was just a sample why does Puffy pay Sting 500k a month to this day?

Not only did he not have permission, he ripped the whole song. That's what it is.

If you can't understand that, it's you playing dumb.

Breh, Puff could still play that song in a Verzuz. It may be disqualified in your mind. According to the Booth, the song is disqualified. Do you understand the type of narcissim and entitlement it takes to make a dumb statement like that?

Sting collects royalties, just like any artist who opts to collect points from a hit record someone else sampled. When you sample an artist, the sampled artist is listed as a songwriter. That means they receive royalties from the record. If you didn't know that, why are you here? You shouldn't even be in this discussion and with another goal post move at that.

A a musician like Elton John even respected that song enough to consult Puff and have him assist him with creating "A Candle In The Wind" as tribute to Princess Diana when she died. According to the Booth, the song is disqualified. Do you understand the type of narcissim and entitlement it takes to make a dumb statement like that?

It's disqualified as something you can give Puff or BadBoy any major credit for.

Let's just hypothetically say Puff plays this at a versus.
Anybody musical.. would say no chance it can win a round because it takes the beat, tempo and the chorus from one of the biggest most successful records in 80s.

Nas and Amerie did the same here

... but at least they flipped the sample more than Puffs team did with Sting.

Either way.. absolutely HUGE difference between the musical originaility of Dre, Timbaland and Jermiane vs Puff and the Hitmen.

I don't understand why you are such a fan.
Surely you think the producers I mentioned have far more impressive catalogues and music in general?
