So tactically, what can the Cavs do to defeat the Warriors?

Lebron needs to stop trying to drive, seriously, its not working in his favor, even when he uses it to bait the double team.

Kyrie needs to stop playing hero ball, we don't care who you cross, if you're missing and not putting major points in.

Love needs to drive in more, surprise the Warriors with some intimidation, he's way too passive.

Jefferson, needs to sit more, you can see the lack of stamina getting to him.

They all need to stop shooting three's, and make it a jumper oriented game. Slow it down and score the positive 2 instead of the iffy 3.

I think LeFlop has to drive though, his jumper isn't great/good. The problem is that now GS has a 6'10 SF who can at least make him change his release. Any team would rather have LeBrick shooting crab jumpers all day vs. barreling in the paint. Plus on the other end, GS will make LeFlop have to actually play defense or end up looking like he did in game 1 lol. Then you'll start seeing him get cramps and act like he dyin like 2014:mjlol:

Love needs to think about how to actually post up a smaller player like Klay:mjlol:

Cavs are a 3 pt shooting team, period. It's who they are. Honestly it's just a bad matchup. GS has too many options on both sides of the ball. What GS needs to do is though is keep that revenge attitude. No beta mindset from Curry/KD.

I think they gotta give Draymond Green the Barnes treatment if they have any hope. He's their worst offensive option(outside of Zaza/McGee, but they were giving them wide open looks at the rim and that isn't good) and he might make you pay but forcing him to beat you on offense is much better than letting Curry/Durant do it.

Offensively they gotta get the role players going early in GS. Bench/role players usually play much better at home than on the road, but they need flat out more production from them if they want any chance at all of beating GS.
Draymond is the Dubs main playmaker so there is no scheme that can make him Barnes

  • Be selective in switching
  • Play Derrick Williams just to throw kd a different body.
  • Take care of the ball.
  • TT needs to fight the Kardashian Kurse.
  • The "others " need to hit their 3s
Their pace was fine in the 1st half before they started to give the ball away. Then GS run happened in the 3rd when they came out flat.

Sounds only two of these things are possible
Hit threes and Don't turn over the ball

Derrick Williams goes out there to play defense and all that ball movement will kill him and warriors will go on a 12-0 run easily
Pay Tristan Thompson 80 million to be a 6-6 rebounding center and be surprised three seven foots took him out the game brehs

The problem with Cleveland adjusting is that GSW didn't even play that good of a game by their standards and also need to make adjustments.

Game 2 might be the most interesting of the whole finals.

Exactly

So they have to actually murder the second best smallforward because the best player in the game can't guard him or score easily on him? :laff:

I mean, if we talking about having a legitimate chance, that's really what needs to be done :francis: Me personally, I think Kyrie and Love can handle the scoring load for the Cavs. Bron's gotta put the clamps on KD, and slow the game down to limit shots for the Warriors. The fundamental thing here will be the defense. If Bron can put in a GOAT defensive performance on KD, and they can keep the Warriors to under 80 FG, they can turn things around drastically. But I think KD is just too good right about now. I think its more likely KD puts the clamps on Bron and keeps him under 25, but we'll see tomorrow.

Slowing the game down would be the BEST option if the Cavs had a highly effective post player(s) who can take advantage of favorable matchups (e.g. prime Duncan) and engulf multiple defenders, and/or if the Warriors had an average/bad defense. But since the Cavs don't have any elite post players, and the Warriors have multiple defenders who can defend Bron and Love in the post, as well as the best defense in the league - it's far from the best option.

:manny:
There are literally people who don't know the Warriors are the best defensive team in the NBA, and have been for this entire run of theirs. People are talking about slowing the pace down like they're a D'Antoni team or something. The only option on defense is to attack Curry before his help can be organized. Because they defend 2-5 at an elite level at any pace (and 1-5 when Curry is on the bench).

Also, people suggesting Kyrie becoming the ball dominant one on offense are ignoring the Klay problem. Klay is going to be glued to him this whole series. They're not playing around with him. This is Bron on Rose all over again.

Slowing the pace down only strengthens the Warriors defense, a defense which is already 100x better than the Cavs in a vacuum. And as you know, league-wide FG% decreases with every second that goes by on the shot clock - why decrease your chances even more against the best defense in the league; a defense which has multiple lineups that can switch on nearly every position?

Just look at how the Warriors can handle the Cavs when they slow the game down, look at the proximity of the primary and help defenders and how they have more time to think/adjust -

Look at how LeBron scored the majority of his points -

Early in the shot clock, before the Warriors defense had a chance to get set and work out what to do.

The only hope of winning is fighting fire with fire against this team. I said it last season when they were down 1-3 (as did Lue), and once they started attacking early, and got into their actions before the Warriors had time to get set and switch/adjust properly, what happened? They came back and won. Warriors went up 3-1 when the game was played at a 93 possessions per 48mins pace; the Cavaliers came back when the game increased to a 95 possessions per 48mins pace. This is just a example of what happened last season -

It was much of the same for the first half of the series, once they managed to find a ratio that favored shots earlier in the shot clock they managed to take a better control of the games.
