When a defensive front can get at you in a number of ways because your o-line has holes everywhere, it's going to be tough to do much of anything. Then your defense stays on the field longer than it should and next thing you know the game's an uphill battle.

There's almost nobody to really blame, much less Cam Newton and the coaching staff. Some cases it's very apparent (crappy QB mostly), but here not so much. You can't expect a team to over hall their schemes week to week and throw what they're trying to install during training camp away. Primarily they're going to try to win games the best way they know how.

Every team has a formula for success. Some are running teams, some love to control the clock by a significant amount, some go aerial all game, etc. We know the Panthers scheme under Cam Newton works, we've seen it work. The problem is their offensive line not being able to do what it needs for them. Cam (and other elite QB's) can and have in the past made up for it in incredible fashion, but that can only go on for so long until it catches up.

My Chargers team is going through something similar this season, and most of my argument here was taken from one of the most knowledgeable posters from that forum when there was a similar argument there, but it applies here.

Don't wanna hear it. Their line is trash, but the QB is capable of neutralizing that to some extent.

Rodgers had a terrible o-line for the longest, he still balled out.

Brady's o-line a few years back was ass, didn't stop him from putting up numbers.

Luck's o-line was probably the worst in the league when he first came in. Don't remember anyone saying "this year doesn't count, his line stinks"

Don't even get me started on the Fins line last year. Tannehill had zero time and zero run game and I don't remember seeing people giving him a pass like that.

What about the bad receiving core and a lack of a running game in addition to a bad line? Would Rodgers and Luck be able to excell without all three of those?

I think everyone is missing the point on this.. Like I've said before, there is criticism, and then there is unfair criticism. There is a lot that CAM has to work on, however, for him to shoulder the lionshare of the blame for Carolina's ills is completely unfair.

I think people just want him to have a fair shot at being in that 5-10(2nd tier of good QBs)
but that is the life of the QB position. they take most of the credit but they take most of the blame :manny: it's not fair to the other players on the team either but thats just the way it is.

I don't think he is getting fair or unfair treatment (over any other player). Sometimes its just the way its played out.

Did David carr get a bad break? no fukkin doubt...but no one was caping for him.

The point here is that ALL Qb's are UNFAIRLY criticized and blamed for their teams failures and simultaneously being UNFAIRLY held to higher regard when the team is playing great.

This isn't just a Cam Newton thing. this is a QB thing.

That's your point. Why do you place all your emphasis on "what poster is speaking for ________ qb" metrics than talking football?

This was a great football discussion until you and last emp decide to be coli whisperers.

Look at the posts on this page above yours. It's strictly football and all you care about is who was talked about. :dahell:

It was brought up that the Rams o line play is better. Are you blind or are you on some buddy thing?

You didn't introduce a single counter point in this discussion.

What is it about some white posters that go "thread poster observers"

Ram's o-line was struggling early on, who you kidding. We recorded 5 sacks against them first time we played and we were garbage at rushing the passer.

Kaep has been sacked for than anyone in the league, why ain't you caping for him?

This defense threads speak clearly to agenda posting

This is thread is about who is sacked the most? By who?

You and the one are literally the same. Y'all have no interest in talking football, just formulating theories on why posters do what they do.

ehh hard to say, but Luck looked pretty good without Wayne last year when he was throwing to TY and a bunch of scrubs. No running game to speak of with Donald Brown and Vick Ballard and shyt, and the o-line wasn't anything to write home about.

But I also think Luck is a generational talent, so I don't even want to hold Cam to those standards. If Cam can become a top 5 QB once Brady and Manning retire, then I think he's reached his potential. But as of right now, he's just not getting it done.

Not really. Being in the weakest division does wonders.

please, I didn't have to get past the first page before I saw the plight of the black qb being addressed.

anyone that KNOWS or has followed ANY football understands that games are won and lost by the offensive(and defensive) line
but they aren't sexy positions, no one talks about them much or at all really.

but those in the know do.

No one talking football has been on that yet it's been your focus, sizing up the intentions of people rather that what's actually being talked about. You're NOT even in those discussions
