this is wrong.

the fugees, de la soul, mobb deep and ALOT of other people dissed pac first.

Only thing I remember about the fugees thing is..one of them was on MTV and they were about to play Cali Love, and I think Pras said something like "The best side is the EAST side"

Mobb Deep probably had some little sneak shiit they said..but did it warrant all the stuff Pac was doing and saying?

man, i think de la soul was just coppin pleas.

they were on some hatin chit back then.

if that bathtub scene wasnt about pac, then it was about treach.....and treach whooped one of their @$$es so they got what they deserved either way.

when the fugees' 1st album was out, they were about to play a pac jawn on yo! mtv raps, then lauryn hill blurted out "its all about the east coast". either we're talking about the same thing or they pulled this stunt twice. plus, they dissed pac on "cowboys".

as for mobb deep, it doesnt matter if you drop a sneak diss or a blatant diss. you speak about another man, you better be ready to accept the consequences.

Jeru got at the Fugees on Wild Cowboys with
"I heard some MC's wanna bring it
But a female is one of their strongest men
When I step to you don't seek refuge
Make it happen, fukk the rappin'
Because I know I got that sewed"

Inspectah Deck got at them on Triumph
"Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more"

PAC got mad at Mobb Deep when they said on Survival of the Fittest hook "thug life we still living it". In the Vibe interview Pac said he killed thug life, then Mobb released Survival of the Fittest, and Pac thought it was a shot at him. Then Mobb Deep got on L.A. L.A. with CNN, and I guess Pac conflated CNN with Mobb Depp and decide to diss Mobb instead of CNN :yeshrug:

:whoa: I don't think he dissed LL with that line. Just think he was saying he moved to different songs to fall in love with. I mean in the 3rd verse he says "I remember breakdancing to melle mel, jekyl hyde and LL when he rocks the bells" Then on the outro "llcoolj as hard as hell" No point in dissing a nikka once and saluting twice. It was all props, though the 1st props coulda been phrased better

2pac - Old School - YouTube

The Original Hip-Hop (Rap) Lyrics Archive

Yeah that's the tuff part cuz Pac has stated LL as one of his favorites and gave props multiple times in the song, but that LL line is like the one slightly backhanded line in the song, even tho the hook pretty much tells u the whole song is a nod to those who paved a way....definitly coulda phrased it better or not said it at all,I don't think he even rhymed it with nuthing which is why it kinda makes u wonder:what:.....its not even neccesary in the rhyme, but like u said makes no sense to diss and then give props later.

But I never saw the borrow the mic off the arm line as offensive either like sum people:krs:.....this line in Old School comes off worse.

Folks forget Pac wuz in jail on the east coast and would hear rappers talkin slick,I think he had dissed Qtip for that in a interview before and said he heard em on the radio talkin down, but they would come do shows in cali and act like it wuz all love....plus he had family on the east who would hear these interviews and tell em shyt....I remember hearin a Slick Rick interview where he completely trashed the west coast sumbody on sohh posted from youtube, dude wuz straight hatin..

Pac definitly had his reasons whether stupid/petty as u might think it is,I definitly don't think it wuz for show like sum people try to say.....he dissed a bunch of people in his career in interviews and what not, then sumtimes he'd change his mind later on,his friends and family said he'd do the same with them and they would just say "well that's just Pac:manny:" then he'd come back and they'd be friends again...harder to do that when u dissin sumbody in front of millions of people to just take it back though.

LL never really dissed him either..yeah he had that I Shot Ya remix thing goin on, but that wasnt a direct Pac diss.

Same for the Fugees and Jay, Nas, Mobb Deep, etc..but Pac was paranoid and took the whole "WAR" mantra to a new level.

It cost him his life.
:aicmon: This is wrong.especially the last line

This thread should be about the disrespect the line holds in 2013.

The line is really specific to the time period. Larry Holmes is an all-time great.

i saw somewhere on here that thought 50 cent created it dissing irv:dead:
Yeah it was in TSC, I couldn't believe it :dead:

This takes me back to a thread made in The Coli a few months ago about not using Larry Holmes as a smiley.

Your favorite athlete or performer WILL be flabby and sick one day. Larry Holmes became flabby and sick and so will everyone else that you know and love. Even YOU.

shyt is just a part of life brehs :to:

You do get it's just reference to a classic 50 Cent lyric right? It's nothing personal.
