Come on bruh. I'm 18 and I knew where that line came from.
Against All Odds went hard though.
Against All Odds went hard though.

most people didn't catch that part since it was in the background. but funny thing, is the members of de la soul are the same age as pac.
Actually he ran wild on NY. They didn't do anything about it. It was some gang shyt that killed him after he checked on his boy's fight in Vegas.

nikka you said in 1995 ll was still going platinum, but during the bulk of 95' he hadnt dropped a platinum album in 5 yearsLL was never "hurting". "14 Shots To The Dome" went gold, he bounced back with a 2x plat album. After that he continued to go gold/plat until 2006. Not bad for a guy that dropped his first single in 1985.
So the point is, his career was never over, and name dropping him on a song called "Old School" talking about the good ol days could be taken the wrong way.
Fred.
He was 25 when He died...watch Pacs interview in prison..watch how clear minded he is..as soon as AEOM dropped he went back to being the Thug Life crazy Pac we knew..he shoulda been outgrew that shyt.
@StillNotSoft
The more I think about it the LL shyt makes sense. Song called "Old School", no matter how much props you're giving it's on some "this was back in the days".
LL was still going plat in '95 when the song dropped. "Mr. Smith" went 2x plat. So LL, being kinda a dikk head, probably took offense like "my career ain't over yet".
Fred.
I don't think he dissed LL with that line. Just think he was saying he moved to different songs to fall in love with. I mean in the 3rd verse he says "I remember breakdancing to melle mel, jekyl hyde and LL when he rocks the bells" Then on the outro "llcoolj as hard as hell" No point in dissing a nikka once and saluting twice. It was all props, though the 1st props coulda been phrased better

nikka you said in 1995 ll was still going platinum, but during the bulk of 95' he hadnt dropped a platinum album in 5 yearsAre we gonna pretend this wasnt a trying time for LL? Hoes wasnt even talking about this nikka anymore. That nikka was on the ropes and mr. smith brought him back to prominence in hiphop. He probaly was jealous like when he punched jaime foxx.
So out of every rapper in the game, pac decides to diss LL on the slick, on MATW? Meanwhile giving passes to biggie whom he claimed "stole" his original MATW (crucified) concepts and sound? Did 2pac diss any other rappers on the entire MATW? Over Kidada, whom he hadnt even met till 96'?2pac dissed him on the slick.
how he throw the "but that didnt last" line in there? that never sat right with me.
maybe there was some tension behind the scenes. over kidada maybe?
you act as if LL was droppin a bunch of flops. 14 shots was the only album LL dropped in between MSKYO and mr smith.
and 14 shots still went gold and had classic hits.
he wasnt cold at all. he just wasnt on the scene like that. dude was doing movies, tv, performing at bill clinton's innauguration, etc.
It was a clever line lol..but have you seen anyone outside of SOHH/Coli use it?
Nah..yall overrating the impact of this line.
