He does have some songs with substance, but again how much does a rapper have to prove it for you to like them? You think he trash anyways, so him having a project of substance would suddenly change your opinion of him?
:mindblown:
Most hood nikkas have no substance, that's all they know, you expect them to be Black Doctor Phils and shyt?:camby:

Kendrick rapping about police brutality, gangbanging in his Compton days, racial profiling, etc., Future rapping drug addiction, trapping, crackers still having it out for Southern nikkas in general.
:sas2:
That line of "substance" is thin and vague at this point, bro. AGAIN, I am bigger fan of Kendrick than Future, but to act like he ain't respected from the streets either way is absurd. He deserves just as much respect from surviving what he went through in the A, as much as Kendrick from L.A.

Substance means shyt to different rappers, at various periods of their lives. You can't pretend like there's a "One size fits all standard to every issue a rapper must rap about". It will strike them at the most unfortunate and unpredictable times of their personal lives, when they're focusing on pleasing heir selfish ass fans.

Like Future is still fighting for child custody AND acknowledged his own mistakes with his past with Ciara. How is that not substance to every nikka who's dealt with women like her?

You can't fake that shyt, it's natural inspiration, some days it will hit you HARD.
we cant act like kendrick isnt 3 times as poetic and more skilled of a rapper than future, kendrick can do things with words and literary devices that future will NEVER be able to do, Kendrick is leagues ahead

Well not shyt, no where did I imply that either. Having substance in subject matter varies depending on what a rapper "values" as contributing towards thriving in existence.
It's literally that subjective, as every rapper has their own "fight", so to speak.
Just saying nikkas have a weak-mind to not be able to tolerate other degrees of lyrical content a rapper has.

Sometimes you feel like getting deep, other times turning up, life is about going through your emotions. There are lot of times where you do have to be super poetic, and say things as you it. At the end of the day, reality cuts right to your bones and blood vessels, to the air you breathe. You don't need to recite a textbook of Grey's Anatomy/Physiology to understand the fundamentals of human survival and everyday struggle.

You also have to consider the educational background of certain rappers, of course Kendrick is poetic, he aced his English classes. That's his advantage as a writer, Future didn't have that opportunity growing up, as most of the South has poor literary rates in general.

Not every rapper shares the same kind of intelligence, some learn through books (Kendrick), others learn through the streets (Future), knowledge is knowledge.

@GreenGhxst Future does have a few "deep tracks", that line "March Madness" of course isn't even close to a good example.

There's this song where he brags about his new one night stands with women, but he laments in the 2nd part of the song that he's not mad if his ex (probably Ciara based on the tone of it) has to cheat to get back at him. At some point he wonders if she also thought of whether they think of the other, while lying to themselves on moving on since breaking up. Given how one-sided raps are with stories about women being why a relationship goes to shyt, that was a rare moment of clarity for adulthood expressed in Rap.

Future – Throw Away Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

It's not "Dear Mama" deep, but god damn you can feel the regret in his delivery.
There's also this which ended he album he dropped today.

Future – Feds Did a Sweep Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

I am noticing Future's vocabulary, and lyricism does increase in increments on each project compared to the previous.
There's more stories (Like "Benz Friends" and "Move That Dope" on Honest), than flat out brag fests now.

Take it or leave it, the nikka is trying to express other sides of himself.:yeshrug:

Future couldve been good in English class he's just a whole different type of MC/Artist. I wouldn't blame the South look at Outkast

Has nothing to do with the South. People really act like the south didn't have any heavy hitters back in the day. UGK, ESG, 8ball & MJG, 3 Six, Tela, Scarface, etc. All better than trash Future or any southern rapper now. It's about accentuating sounding and being dumb. Nothing more, nothing less. :yeshrug:

How does Future not remind you of Outkast's first album, albeit with some modern references? He is apart of their Dungeon Family, you can hear that influence in his approach to music at times. It wasn't a coincidence that 3K collaborated with on "Benz Friends".
