OK
These overreactions.. It seems ppl already forgot what Russ is capable of. Just surround him with competent shooters and and watch him go to work.

KD leaving is a gut punch but OKC is not in a terrible position.

If I'm Presti, I take Bradley, Brown, and the Nets' pick for Sabo. Ainge should do this, so long as he can ensure Westbrook stays longer (maybe via a sign and trade , if still permitted under the CBA:patrice:). A Westbrook and Thomas backcourt would be pretty damn scary for opposing defenses. Or after getting Westbrook, Ainge could make a move for another free agent (Jimmy Butler) and have Isaiah come off the bench. It really all depends on whether Ainge wants to win now or bide his time for the trade deadline or next off-season. If he waits until next off-season, he could try another pitch to Durant and/or make a move for Rudy Gobert. Ainge really has all the leverage and a few avenues to consider but he MUST part with Bradley, Brown and that pick to get Sabo.

The longer OKC tries to hold onto Westbrook, the less likely it is he'll stay. OKC REALLY put themselves in a bad spot. Presti needs to focus on building around Oladipo and Adams via trades and draft picks since nobody's coming to OKC as a free agent. And he needs to accept the fact that ALL trade offers he gets for Westbrook are going to be low-ball offers. He just has to take the best one he can get and Ainge has the right pieces.

The Salaries don't match tho......

Boston is going to have to throw another piece or 2 in there.

Russ is about at 17, Bradley is at 8.......I'd imagine they'd want smart more.

Salaries don't need to match, as the Celtics are still under the cap and can just absorb his contract, I believe they had $50-60 million in space before the Horford signing.

I don't think any of the trade checkers are using the new cap.

Why would u trade a top 5 player. You build around Russ. End of story

Russell is gone after this upcoming season if they don't move him. They'll lose him for nothing. He's not going to want to stay.

Presti's track record was always questionable but him allowing the Thunder to get to this state is mind-blowing.

I'd offer Westbrook an extension right now, if he doesn't agree to it I move him, it's a must. You cannot risk losing him next summer.

Basically, I'd do just this. They lost KD for nothing. They can't lose :youngsabo: and get nothing in return, even if it's picks.

Because OKC is not a FA destination, Russ is a FA at the end of next season and he'll most likely finish a 38-44 type season where they are too good for a quality draft pick but not good enough to actually do anything.

Russ is turning 28 too, so he can't waste prime years like that.
