It's going to be interesting going forward, OKC will be looking for a stable of 1st round picks

They'll be looking for those picks but other teams' GMs have leverage since they KNOW OKC is in a tough spot. Presti will get low-balled for Westbrook, simply put. And the longer OKC holds onto Westbrook, the less they'll get back for him.

It doesn't work that way

And even if it could, he'd be giving up money because he'd get paid more if he waits til the offseason

And once you hit the offseason, it's a crapshoot, not worth it
Damn! They might lose him for nothing too. :wow:

No reason for him to sign an extension if he can get more money as a free agent. OKC will try and trade him but he'll get to pick his team by agreeing to sign with them long term. And that team has no reason to give OKC fair value if Westbrook will leave anyway.

OKC so screwed :wow:

The cap goes up next year, he'd be stupid to agree to an extension now. Plus if that's the case why doesn't okc try to extend him right now? They can't.

okc is....and stars take less all the time.

Secure a verbal commitment from him that he'll re-sign in the summer. Anything less than that you've gotta trade him. Plain and simple

Today was the death of okc. There's no reason for the fans to support them anymore.

attendance will go down and the franchise gets re-located back to seattle.
