So what exactly is that whole "I never heard him get played in the hood" arguement supposed to mean?

I think you're misunderstanding me a bit. I'm not saying that because someone doesn't get play in the hood means theyre lame. I'm saying that 9/10 the hood will tell you if something is boomin. And it's just because of the lifestyle difference that comes with it. It's hard to explain, and you'd have to be from it to understand it

It's not only about what you hear out of speakers. It's the conversations at the corner store, it's the convos on the block where no music is playing
But someone is trying to convince you to listen to it.

When someone says "the hood" they don't literally look at it like its one organism, but there is a collective opinion and vibe that travels in hoods.

Example: I heard So Far Gone played way more in the Hood then I heard Thank Me Later, despite Drake being bigger during his Thank Me Later run

Same way I heard more GKMC being played than I did TPAB despite Kendrick being bigger now then he was in 2012.

It's weird like that but that's the difference between the GP and the Hood. In the hood it's not always about what's hot, it's about what fits.

I hate to keep bringing up Future but it's a perfect example of how the streets dictate what's great, Internet nerds hashtag it, then white people latch on. It's a never ending cycle. But it's been proven time and time again.

Hood = Vibes, Words Of Mouth, Sounds
GP= What's Hot, what everyone else is listening too. Hashtags.

You need both. But if you were going to take a sample anywhere, a trial run or something? Hood should be first. People who don't have shyt might just appreciate those vibes more and are looking for an Escape.

GP just wants to be down and ride the wave.

Best to use the hood to actually find your sound and use the GP to cash out.

GP doesn't give a damn about anything other than what other people are listening to. The streets will actually let you know what's poppin and what's trash.

And I see your point as well.

Oh ok, yeah, I get where you're coming from then. Thanks for expounding on it instead of being a child and just negging me like a scorned bytch :youngsabo::salute:

Well a person would really have to talk to other nikkas in the hood to see who they fukk with. A person getting played on the radio in hood literally means nothing because people just turn on the radio and listen to whatever the hell is playing. I fukking heard Taylor Swift being played in my hood :mjlol:.

None of this discredits a underground rapper talent because most of the time nikkas do listen to these rappers, but through their headphones. Most people are always gonna blast mainstream shyt first :yeshrug:.

I remember brehs from around my way under no circumstances would not fukk with Wu's music. It was corny to them for some reason. No Limit and later on Juvenile and Hot Boys, nikkaz loved that music though which was perplexing to me. When Atliens was hot, the Elevators joint, etc., there were quite a few hood brehs that did not rock to any of that. In fact, what I remember distinctly was dudes into C-Bo, and later on Brotha Lynch, E-40 and the other Bay artists one would hear on what seemed like to me an absurd amount of compilations from that area. I think Percy Miller had a lot to do with that.

Music is a complex thing to me though. Nas might be one of the most respected, iconic emcees because he's Nas, and hood nikkaz will acknowledge him. Is his music on their rotation though? Not really. UGK on the other hand? Cats can recite Pimp C verses backwards. Dayton Family? Ear orgasm to those same dudes. I think folks on here understimate the demand for hood music. Not everyone in the US wants to decipher bars, often enough they want to feel good for the same reason intellectually challenged Michael Bay movies make a ton of dough and the Coen brehs last film tanked. I remember being in my Corolla with friends listening to Roots' Concerto of the Desperado which being fresh out of high school at the time was phenomenal to me. My friends didnt want to hear that sh!t though, it was boring to them. Chopper City on the other hand was the second coming of Christ. Thankfully Bow Down was neutral enough for both my ears and my friends from back then. Good times but the differences in taste during those years was just the beginning of regional tastes and differences.

You are a fraud who doesn't know what they are talking about. You said artists don't care about being played in the hood and I can literally show you quotes or documentation to show that a number of greats do. You don't even understand the concept properly because you are such an outsider and merely a hipster hoe.

You try to fit in so much and it is absolutely cringeworthy. But you are fickle, fraudulent and disrespectful to Hip Hop and the culture.

I have seen you say a lot of suspect ish racially too, you think because you'd get gangbanged by Dipset or take Asap Rocky's dikk down you're trashy shameless hoe ass throat that makes you Hip Hop, it doesn't. It makes you a groupie and a trendhopper. You have no conception about the culture, not even on a basic level. You are so brainwashed by your white privilege, underlined preduice and desperation to fit in and be accepted you don't even understand what you are.

To have a white girl from suburbia diss Hip Hop legends and veterans is highly disrespectful and stepping out of line. It shows you are trend hopper and you listen to shyt because it's trendy not because you have a genuine love and respect for artists within the culture as human beings or the moral codes and practises of the culture.

I give everybody a pass initially as there are white people and even white ladies that do know Hip Hop truly and live the culture but unfortunately you get complete despicable frauds like you. You self exposed yourself over time with your fickleness, hypocrisy and disrespect. That's why I don't respect you or anything you have to say on Hip Hop or anything else because you've proved you're not a person of knowledge, integrity or understanding. You won't care about this because you are trash and that's fine, but anybody real can see what you are in truth.

Again this is a lie to try and deflect from the substance of what I said. But being from Ireland doesn't invalidate somebody from being Hip Hop which further reinforces you're complete lack of understanding of the culture. But I have proof of the things I said such as you're racially suspect remarks and disrespect to the culture and being a trashy classless hoe, while you have no proof of the nonsense you said. Like I said, you're fake...

So because I said ASAP Rocky is hot and fukkable that means I'm just a classless hoe? Right. You got me. Cause no poster on here has ever said that about female rappers, right?

You said nothing of substance. You even went as far as saying I'd say I'd get gang banged by Dipset which I never actual said, which is actually something Aroman made up. A lie. A non truth, that you're repeating. And here you are repeating a lie with no fact to back it up. Ironic considering you're accusing me of the same shyt.

You're a hip hop fan behind a computer screen that thinks cause he watches papoose & k RIno freestyles and YouTube videos from KRS 1 18 hours a day That you're somehow better than me and more "in tune".

i see y'all say this a lot about artist(usually only the ones y'all don't like) but please explain to me what this is supposed to mean?

Because I can think of several artist y'all respect that I've NEVER heard anyone in the hood play (I.E. Nas, Jay-Z, K-Rino, Lupe Fiasco etc)

But I have heard the hood play somebody like Drake, who everybody knows ain't from the hood.

So what exactly does that arguement mean and why is that supposed to be a diss?
This is a garbage argument used by close minded people who often fall into group thinking and are either afraid to or don't know how to actually express and formulate their own tastes/opinions.

"I never heard such and such in the hood, blasting out of a whip, in the club"

Meanwhile the people they champion as being more relevent have no careers just hype from people who don't buy records

If you haven't heard anyone in your hood play Jay or Nas then you're not really from the hood.

Also, Drake is a pop star who dominates the radio. He gets played everywhere.

:russ:

close thread

K-Rino and Nas have got played in the hood. Jay too.

Getting played in the hood has merit or not depending on who in the hood is playing it. Like the general world there are a lot of sheep everywhere but there are also real street dudes for real or spiritual types in the hood. It's a complex question because it depends how hard people fukk with you and also if it's manufactured or real.

For instance Styles P and Jadakiss have got some real play, for the reason that people fukked with that shyt, not just because it was in or for "bytches". same with Mobb Deep, Scarface, Geto Boys, Pac, N.W.A etc.

anyone else find this funny, coming from a cac vulture who hasn't step foot outside Scotland, let alone North American soil? :dead:

Woat, I tell ya...
