in the last 2 years, do you know how many rappers have been written off that supposedly had next? I can count at least 7 from these two XXL covers alone... let's not even talk about this years cover.

The only rappers not doing something from these two covers, are Don Trip (who had a weak fanbase) and Roscoe Dash (who had an even weaker fanbase).

What I'm confused about in this thread is the OP's question. Chance the Rapper has released songs this year. Was in the XXL Freshmen Class (and cypher), has done features, is touring, and is getting radio play off of two mixtapes he gave away for free. He released an album last year and is gearing up for his next one. Nothing happened to him, he has started quite a successful independent career and is making quite a bit from it. My homie was actually just chilling with him and his little brother a few weeks ago, they're living life.

So according to Chance stans in this thread(cant believe they even exist on this site), Chance is doing a bunch of tours and shows therefore he doesnt need to release music. They act like he's some veteran who has a catalog he can sit on. In reality, he's a flavor of the month rapper who got gassed to oblivion over the past year and I have yet to see him take it to that next level in the fashion similar to rappers who were once in his place like Kendrick.

I personally thought he'd drop an album or something this year and blow up like ive seen so many industry plants do before but at this point I see his peak being somewhere along the lines of Tyler The Creator or Gambino which isn't bad at all, but the way I saw nikkas gas him I thought he'd be the next Kendrick.

he's been droppin songs on his damn soundcloud and doin guest features all over the fukkin place. Of course when your on fukkin tour you don't got to drop music Kendrick was silent forever and what did Ye drop on his Yeezus tour? What about Jay Z?
