So...What's the Main Argument Against Reparations, Again?

there is no argument, but there is a disagreement over what is owed

slaves were not free. adjusted for inflation, a slave would cost $40,000 in today’s money

the sellers of slave labor were compensated at the time of sale

this issue is impossible to solve because the buyer feels they have already paid for the labor and do not owe anything and the workers feel they have not been paid

this situation can only be resolved through violence. neither side is interested in the other sides point of view. no matter how many people will die in the process, I don’t see either side giving in to compromise

our grandchildren’s grandchildren will be fighting over this

There were blacks who legally owned land who were chased out of town by murderous mobs of whites and then had tax centers burned so they couldn't sue to get it back


At the very least, the US needs to give the families their land back + profits that were made using that land

Black descendants of slavery should be tax exempt across the board.

No sales tax
No federal income tax
No state tax
No property tax

Free college education

Free healthcare

Thru DNA testing and forensic accountants they can easily trace the descendants slaves.

This way if you are a bum ass you remain a bum ass but if you are working and striving you will be on equal playing field as white people.

Our communities would advance greatly in one generation.

What I never understood about the reparations argument is why don't people focus on Jim Crow Laws or segregation rather than slavery? It's white folks number 1 argument towards black people is that "WE" weren't slaves, ok, if they wanna play stupid

Jim Crows Laws/Segregation had an affect on most African Americans living today grandparents if not some peoples parents and can easily be proven to affect African Americans in regards to schooling, housing discrimination, etc...

France gave the U.S. $60M to pay the survivors because they aren't citizens of France.

Its relevant because it wont be effective. Reparations should be for elevating Black people as a whole and creating an economic base, not for material shyt. Reversing the effects will come from Black business and free eduction or land, not from buying shyt.

Don’t get me wrong, Id support giving it straight to people if that was the only option but I dont think its the best method. Im not denying them anything, give the money but just in a different way.

I agree. I don't think we in a position where what we are "owed" is the issue. It's providing the opportunity for us to build our communities up. To have all that money go into our community and then be spent on material items would be a travesty. That's not what we need. What we need is better schools, better jobs, better infrastructure, and our own businesses to patron.

There’s no argument, just no real discussion on it. It’s unlikely now too. Almost not worth it too. I deserve to get paid, yes, but it’s pointless demanding payment in this instance. I almost don’t want reparations because “fukk their money”. I doubt money would make my children’s children’s lives better, especially if they plan to continue living in the US.

The spiritual/righteous people should get the money and develop a culture for our brain dead black people because giving all black people money is a recipe for disaster because they lack consciousness, so the money should go to the right hands so we can teach blacks how to really live
