My Pops Forever RIP
my issue is with the lack of personalities in the league moreso than how they dress.

payton, hardaway, rasheed, AI, MJ, barkley, mutumbo, shaq, kg = eclectic personalities.

the whole league has turned into ray allens and tim duncans. is this stern's doing or are the advisors stripping them down to prevent anytype of controversy.
It's neither.

Believe it or not, there are still a lot of crazy personalities. Most of them happen to not be great at basketball. Michael Beasley's a prime example of a player that has personality to light up a room. He's just not the player we thought he'd be. I don't think players are necessarily holding back. Like someone in another thread said, these kids are the products of really good parenting and also careful long term career planning, and IMO really following the MJ blueprint. It's hard to build up a potential billion dollar brand by saying or doing shyt that will alienate a large sector of people around you.

The Yay
Social media.

nikkas sound like the IWC when they wonder why they'll never see another larger than life wrestler again. That separation between player and fan isn't there really anymore.
:ehh:
doubt its only social media tho
might be oversaturation and accessibility of everything, ie internet. can catch any game you like in hd, see extra footage from before and after game, athletes twitting 24/7 about how they went to take a dump or which booty they fukkin today
dues who are in it to bow to personalities prolly like meh not impressed.

but then again its not a problem to me, in any sport that I follow.
I guess Ill never understand the appeal of watching sports for cool personalities :manny:

I think most of it is that social media has allowed people to realize that pro athletes are just regular people. It also forces athletes to be more mindful about what they do or say because someone is always going to be seeing or recording it.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Dudes are funny. When cats have outgoing and gregarious personalities they're "cornballs." When they're reserved or chill personalities, they're boring. When they don't give a fukk they're stupid. If a dude does dance or smile too much for your liking, or not take every game like the fate of the known universe lies in the balance, they're a c00n. It's like there's no middle ground. Everything is to the extreme. If Dwight Howard did the same thing Gary Payton did in the locker room tomorrow night y'all would be like:

When LeBron and them danced a few years ago at the introductions y'all were probably like:

I mean, what the fukk do y'all want? :wtf:

I truly believe as a celebrity or athlete or whatever, you have to put your own happiness ahead of others. People are so mercurial that's there's really no need to try to appease them. If they like you, cool. If they don't, fukk 'em.

you have zero arguments. youre saying a pro sports league is 'boring' because of no 'cool personalities' :dahell:

sounds like you either need to grow up or switch to watching wrestling instead.
U can ignore those declining ratings I posted all u want

Obviously the NBA isn't as popular as it used to be

"Y'all" is the collective opinion of the people that post on this board. Let's not pretend like c00n, cornball, swagless, etc., aren't used interchangeably on here and applied to players in some definitive sense, friends. If you were cool with LeBron and Co. dancing, you're an outlier in terms of opinion on here, in my estimation. I never posted or read :hamster:, but I'd bet money dudes were like "c00ns" when the East All-stars danced in their introductions in 2012.:pachaha:

The bottom-line is this, I'm playing Golden State in NBA 2K14 on PS4 right now and I'm killing them with the Magic. :ohlawd:

Players nowadays are terrified to show any kind of personality since they're under such a big microscope now.The players from the Jordan/Pre-Lebron era were cut from a different cloth. They embraced the spotlight, weren't afraid to be themselves and didn't give a fukk about what people thought of them. They just went out played ball and continued about they business. Back then, they seemed larger than life....like cartoon characters or something. You had to watch shyt like Inside Stuff to see how these dudes were really like.

I also blame it on today's society. Hipster culture is IN right now especially in the black community. Were to busy focusing on our appearance and what's cool that we hide our true identities just to fit in. That attitude is carrying over to the NBA since most guys are coming young as 19-20 years old that seemed to have no life experiences/struggles. They all just wanna be friends, play dress up, have fun, fukk instagram bytches and stunt.

The NBA is just a job to them.
