I know what they told us, but doesn't every trade need to be approved by the league before its official? Why go through that if they didn't need to and it was totally between teams. and allot of these billionaires are friends, I'm sure they would help out a *friend* with a allstar if they could.

Im pretty sure it came down to Stern being shook that the value of the Hornets would fall without Chris Paul right before he was about to sell it

I think that was the main motivation

Paul was to be traded... Every trade has to go through the NBA

Durant was an UFA and was allowed to go anywhere he damn well pleased.

Good lord this thread is made every 6 months.

The league(the other 29 owners) owned the hornets if the traded CP3 to the Lakers they would have had to give the Lakers 21 million dollars too. Basically they would've had to pay the championship caliber Lakers to have an all star point guard.

What owner in his right mind especially in the western conference is going to be okay with paying to make the Lakers a better team? Let that shyt go laker fans. Mitch finessed gasol for a Dave and busters gift card and a bum. You think those other owners were letting that happen again if they could stop it? You think Stern was going to defy 29 owners for 1 franchise? Let that shyt go.

Approved of the league in terms of legalities, NOT in terms of whether it's fair or not. This ain't fantasy hoops.

One of biggest travesties in pro sports history and people just pretend like it was nothing cause it screwed the Lakers. ..

I remember how people were trying to justify it because getting eric fukking gordon was such a better deal for the hornets :stopitslime:
