So why did the NBA give Steve Nash those MVPs when he didn't deserve them?

he was the face of a stat-padding team that won the most meaningless regular season games those years.

plus this era was best known for the malice in the palace. the nba was in the midst of a marketing crisis.

right place/right team. people know what it is at the end of the day tho. thats why he didnt make it in the next 10 on that episode of "open court" despite having 2 MVPs.

Steve Nash was the NBA's 2004-05 and 2005-06 MVP.

As good as Nash was, he didn't deserve those awards, brehs.

They could have given those awards to Kobe, Iverson, Lebron, Garnett....like 8 guys before Nash.
:beli:

I'm not trying to hate on Nash but c'mon son.
He was just throwing alley oops to Stoudamire and Marion while shooting below-average from the floor and playing lame defense. 1 steal per game avg?

:aicmon:
Below average shooting? Wasn't he a 50 40 90 guy?:heh:

Yeah because Jeremy Lin and Raymond Felton were shooting 49/42/90 and leading the Knicks IN THE WEAKER EASTERN CONFERENCE to 60 wins :camby:

Nash is a very good player. Hes a legit all star

Jeremy lin is a BUM

Raymond feltin is a BUM

Rob Parker said it best. Writers are white guys with bad backs who can't jump so they identified with Nash.

Ironically, it's now the opposite. They are obsessed with Lebron because he's a physical specimen who does things they could never do, while playing the game "the right way" in their eyes, so now they love him.

The Suns increased their win total from 29 to 62 wins

In 06, the Suns finished as a 3rd seed without Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson. Not to mention Nash averaged some crazy numbers that year

Ironic that you said that considering Stephen Curry is the current MVP, and he essentially fits the criteria outside of being white that Nash had.

Maybe just one of them.
Phoenix won 54 games in 2005-06 despite losing Joe Johnson and Amare. Nash was getting I think 19/4/11.5 on 50/40/90 shooting and took another team of no names to the leagues best offense while being solid on defense and went all the way to the western conference finals. He absolutely earned it. In 2004-05 they went from 29 wins to 62 wins and Nash led the way. He was getting maybe 16/4/11 in 50/40/90 shooting. It was either him or Shaq. That's why the race turned out as close as it did.

During the playoffs and Finals, writers and media have ignored Steph Curry and bashed him for being a good dad basically.

Steph is more skilled than Nash ever was and also more athletic.

entertain the dumb asses for a sec:

Why did Shaq deserve the MVP in '05, make your case please :feedme:

Whatever it may be though: turning a 29-win team into a 62-win team and best record in the league > whatever Shaq did

His last dominant season. 23/11 with I think 2.5 blocks a night. Took Miami to the top seed in the east at 59-23 and had Wade not gotten hurt there's a good chance they'd win the whole thing. Can't go wrong on either vote. Shame because it was his last chance at another MVP award and he deserved a lot more than just one. Oh well. He did win just a few more finals MVP awards than most.
