Been to parties where people do this but I still have fun. I just comes through like "Why yall sittin down on your phones yo? Let's go dance." 
Sometimes the shot falls, sometimes it gets blocked.
I've really found that when people are being boring you just gotta introduce your brand of fun to them. Atleast that's how my brothers and I are. We gon find some way to have some kind of fun no matter where we go or what we do, and we've found that people gravitate towards that. My twin bro and I have taken some house parties over because we just having fun and laughing.
Another thing I'll do is while I'm walking around with a bottle in my hand, I'll bomb some random bytches Snap, then introduce myself, then be like "Yo let's take some shots." I just do the stuff that gets people to not have phones in their hands, but I also take advantage of whenever chicks do have their snaps up. "Ayo add me right quick!"
Partying done changed since Freaknik but there's still fun to be had. Most parties I go to people are actively socializing face to face, but there's always gon be a random selfie/group pic being taken for a couple minutes.

I just went to Deltopia in Santa Barbara for 3 days. My friends decided to make everybody turn off their phones and say, "what happens in SB, STAYS IN SB." Threw a cool couple of parties, then me and my friends ventured out to see the other parties. It was so packed and the drugs and alcohol was flowing, so girls were actually dancing. Best 3 days I've had all school year. I swear they treat you like a god if you're somewhat physically fit. I was eating so good
