Is the shell still there but soft enough to chew through![]()
basically. Its kinda like if you eat a polish or hot dog that has a little crunch when you bite it, but its a really light shell.
They crunchy because how they batter them but no the shells gone
The coli, y’all![]()
i see you didn’t quote the part where i said they molt their shell that’s how they are “soft” then they batter it and fry it
You trying it today sir
they need to take the meat out for me
The shell is still there but its like the texture of pretzel almost. not really but best way i can describe, you can basically eat through the shell
you said “the shell’s gone” there’s no context that can fix that![]()
Soft shell is when they molt (sp) they are vulnerable until it hardens, so they batter and fry it, and it’s good af

Cool, thanks for this info. I was wondering if they just perfectly removed the shell from the crab so that its insides were still in the right shapeUntil right when you said that, I thought the same thing all these years. Now I actually will eat one
Soft-shell crab is a culinary term for crabs that have recently molted their old exoskeleton and are still soft.[1] Soft-shells are removed from the water as soon as they molt to prevent any hardening of their shell.[2] This means that almost the entire animal can be eaten, rather than having to shell the animal to reach the meat.[3] The exceptions are the mouthparts, the gills and the abdominal cover, which, though edible when shells are very soft, are usually discarded ("cleaned").[4] The remaining, edible part of the crab is typically deep fried or sautéed.[3]
