Somali Bantus are originally from Tanzania/Mozambique, one of the few minority groups. They historically did farming because they populate Southern Somalia so they know more about the terrain. Siad Barre also implemented integration policies that got them to work as blacksmiths, carpenters, etc in Mogadishu. They're very hard workers.
And yeah, Somalis are arrogant people. They don't farm and never have farmed. It sounds stupid but it's true historically. I feel like ethnic Somalis came to the south with their herds and that's all they did. Very few ethnic Somalis were farmers pre-civil war.
Fishing was even seen as something they would make fun of other Somali clans of doingand we have the longest coastline in Africa for God sake
Is this a cultural issue?
