Shai- has the MVP and would top what might be one of the greatest non MJ seasons ever by a guard. However, OKC is the team most likely built to last, so this feels like a window that will stay open for him compared to everyone else.

Ant- would have credibility with everyone who wants to crown him and this might be the only chance he gets to do this. Also he could only be the only #1 since the lottery to win his first title without needing another #1 pick alongside him.

Brunson- would become undisputed KONY with a title and would be NY's first title in the 4 major sports since 2011 (Liberty, Gotham and NYCFC have rings. Otherwise the city has gone through a wild drought). He probably has the most to gain because NYC will never let people forget about Brunson til the end of time. Only negative would be that the East sucks so much that Brunson make it back by default.

Haliburton winning would be huge for Indiana and would be a "suck my dikk" to everyone. The teams who passed on him, the Kings for trading him, his peers who don't fukk with him. The only downside is that Haliburton is the one whose title would be celebrated the least going forward. This doesn't make him face of the league or whatever or put him in the HOF or make him the best PG. It can solidify him as the top heel of basketball, basically Reggie with a ring. If he leans into that, then he'll keep Indy on the map.
Shaq didn’t have a number 1 overall with him on lakers did he?

Yall fooling yourself if you think anything would be bigger than Brunson bringing a title to the Knicks. I can’t believe this is a question.

SGA winning a title just cements this as a great run. Brunson winning a title would turn that dude into a legend for all of eternity. There would be documentaries made in his honor. Nobody gives a shyt about OKC, you would hear about this Knicks title run until the day you die. OKC winning is a basketball story, the Knicks winning is a national story.

I have no earthly idea what Willis Reed looks like or the position he played. But what I do know is that nikka won titles with the Knicks!

The only player who could become more legendary is whoever the QB is the next time the Cowboys win it all.
The problem with this is, everyone on the team will be crowned. Not one person in particular, especially since the Knicks didn't draft any of their main guys.

In terms of whose perception it would benefit the most, it's definitely Haliburton.

He was just voted the most overrated player and has an unhealthy amount of detractors (whereas Brunson is largely respected by his peers and the public), for whatever warped reason. Indiana has arguably the richest hoops history and is unofficially the basketball capital of the country, so if he was to bring a championship back to the Fieldhouse, the perception of him would do a 180.

Even if the Knicks crash out in this round or the Finals, Brunson still be looked at in the same light. If Haliburton loses in this series, folks will be back to calling him overrated.

Shaq didn't win it in Orlando.

Only 10 #1 overall picks have even reached a finals with their original team since 85

Ewing
Shaq
Robinson
Duncan
Irving
Kenyon Martin
Iverson
Dwight Howard
James
Ayton

Other than Duncan/Robinson and Kyrie/LeBron, only 6 others have won a title period as a #1 overall pick regardless of location

Shaq
Big Dog Robinson
Bogut
Anthony Davis
Dwight Howard
Andrew Wiggins

Brunson. You can make an argument he is one of the most disrespected Superstars I can think of in recent memory (I know people are coming around). He would bring a championship to NY who hasn't seen one since Giants won in 2012 and the first Knicks ring in over 50 years.

shyt you can say the same thing with Haliburton.

Pacers never won a NBA title and the last title the city has was with the Colts.

Hali wouldnt be crowned the best player in the league, but for a team where no marquee FA will go to, for the Pacers to win a title would be a big deal.

Brunson ascension to the throne of NY is the stuff of legends and would be chefs kiss….and I’d get to hear the Mavs get killed some more for letting him go and I’d get to hear about him getting one before Luka too.

I selfishly want a title so I’m hoping Brunson pulls through.

That being said if Antman wins he legitimately locks down being the face of the league whether he wants it or not.

I have Thunder winning, I can see Ant benefitting the most, he will be face of the league whether he wants it or not. Knicks would benefit as a team, not individually. Would be a big time moment for that team to finally get it.
