ECF and WCF set.

One of the new stars is getting their first ring.

Who gets it?

Who benefits the most?
Ant benefits the most off the MJ comparison. Brunson benefits the most financially and becoming the face of the biggest city of the world, thirsty for the first chip in most of their fans lifetimes

The Wolves taking this thing...

•If the Knicks win:

This would go down as one of the more improbable title runs ever. They'd have to beat some seriously stiff competition to finish this shyt off. Brunson has already spent 2 years rocketing up hierarchy, and at this point he's a Top 10 guy. This is Year 7, a title, with this franchise, with this roster, with the teams he'd have to beat along the way, combined with his rapid ascension...

He'd gain the most, people would be putting him in "greatest point ever" conversations...

•if the Thunder win:

It validates Shai as having had one of the greatest individual seasons ever, and I think there will be real momentum with putting him on All-Time Top 75 type lists. He's on a 3-year run currently that you can make the case as is he's trending in historic territory, a title elevates him pretty significantly in those conversations...

•if the Wolves win:

People already have Ant on fringe Top 5 status and for over a year have been trying to anoint him as face of The League. A championship would send that mission into full throttle, but its not the biggest leap to gain of this quartet...

•if the Pacers win:

I think the disrespect of Haliburton pretty much ends. Bringing a title to Indy would give him a level of esteem and stature with his peers he doesn't yet have. But currently being the "worst" star player of this group, I still think he'd have more ground to cover compared to the others three ..

I want either Ant or Brunson to win but, I'm leaning towards Brunson since Ant is good enough to win in the future.

Back when Brunson first got traded from Dallas, cacs were talking hella greasy like he was terrible and that Luka was better off without him when I always felt that Luka was a ball hog/chucker. Years later and people finally see the truth. It would be worth it just to laugh at those dummies.

Edit:

They called Brunson "Walmart FVV" :dead: :dead: :dead:

Inflation is real when Walmart FVV is getting a bigger bag than FVV.

Who wins - Shai.
Who benefits the most - Haliburton. He was voted as the most overrated player by his peers, and the public forum of the NBA hasThey s seemingly taken to hating on him over the last 1-2 seasons.
Interesting

I dont disagree with this angle per se. Let me offer a different one.

Ant Edwards. Face of Adidas bball. Flashy ads, Flashy game. Folks compare him to Michael Jordan(I dont see it myself but that is neither here or there for me). They call him a giant killer in the playoffs. Back to back WCFs. Seems to be highly liked by casual fans. Seems to have a DGAF attitude in his life and press dealings

A win puts him into the cultural stratosphere. A young 1A who leads a team who hasn't won a chip would be a major part of future NBA lore.

Problem for him and the NBA tho is this all brings more scrutiny to his personal life

Well the obvious answer is Hali bc he’s the furthest from excepting to win a title (now or in the future). No ones picking bim bc no one thinks they have a shot

Even in a finals loss, Brunson would become 2nd to Patrick Ewing as Knicks icons. Might get a statue . Would also stamp his HOF resume. Kinda like AI’s finals loss is damn near respected more than some chips. And that’s all even if he loses.

So bc of that, I vote Ant. For the simple fact I’m still confused how they keep getting this far and I don’t think their teams is champion caliber, so this may be his best shot

OKC is only gonna get better, houston is only gonna get better, Sours have something nasty cooking up and prime Wemby is coming. So this is Ant’s best chance

Brunson winning a ring with the Knicks would FINALLY put New York near or at the top of the sports landscape. They would milk that ring for 20 plus years minimum if it happens. Haliburton being seen as a 2nd tier star would nip that in the bud if the Pacers pull it out. Shai and Ant would take the next leap to true superstar status with a chip. Ant is already all over the TV so that only increases with a ring. But in the end I think Shai and the Thunder will get it this season.

Nobody has the charisma outside of their own team/city to be like on a large scale

Ant doesn’t want to be the face of the league and his personal life with baby mamas is fukked up

Brunson is cool for NY but dude is quiet same as Shai with OKC

Hali will have bragging rights for sure but on a large scale nobody will give a fukk if he have a ring

I will say Shai, off the fact he’s a MVP and a title to OKC that kevin and russ couldn’t do and the fact the clippers traded him away for paul george who hasn’t done shyt but robbed franchise

Pulling for my young nikka from the SWATS but however it goes, this is the most "changing of the guard" ass Conference Finals of all time
I told my uncle the same thing, the young cats are taking over they don’t give a damn about the old guard their time is now.

I can roll with that angle.

It'll benefit whomever wins, depending on how you look at it. I only choose to lean towards Haliburton because he's the most disrespected player out of that group and the perception of him will change drastically more than the other three if he wins. By the same token, if he doesn't win, he'll be criticized more than the other three will.

I feel it’s fairly even across the board
  • Brunson has the best underdog story magnified by the biggest market
  • Hali is the most overlooked and disrespected
  • Ant is the most controversial but also the most exciting/viral
  • Shai is the most accomplished and on a higher all-time trajectory than the others
It’d go along way for all of them. I’d say Shai has the most pressure to win tho. He’s supposed to be better than the other 3.
