The internet is NOT a good place to look for blks to be depicted positively. Period. And with the advent of blkfishing it’s going to become worse.

Log off. Give love to those in your corner and pay dust to miserable fukks. Also keep in mind only 7% of Americans use Twitter. When I learned that shyt, it blew my mind b/c social media has a way of making it seem like the worse people are everywhere.
I agree that socialnmedianmakes things worse BUT a disproportionate amount of black people especially young black people use social media where they are exposed to anti black / anti black men / anti black women mwssaging.
A lot of our communities don’t have any infrastructure to combat it irl

it’s only going to get worse as the internet becomes fully integrated into the corporeal world :francis:
I really worry for younger folks :francis:

Yeah. The idea of brotherhood and men's spaces like the old world isn't seen favorably on the Coli. It's unfortunate.

Exactly. Some (like you) back us up, but alot of men like to shyt on the idea of it.

However sometimes TheColi does get it right.

Like when Steph and Barack tried to shyt on black men
Barack Obama, Steph Curry discuss "toxic masculinty" at Brother's Keeper conference

Imagine your own president (a black man) shytting on you for being a black man

Here was my post from it

This is complete and utter bullshyt.

I hate how they shoehorn men into this box to the point where they pretend that all men are extras off of Expendables 2 :gucci:

So Obama never once had a serious discussion with another man? He never once talked about fears or insecurities?

I got friends who are getting married, having children, going through divorces, trying to find ways to provide, dealing with death in the family. We talk about real shyt.

This notion that only women discuss serious shyt and men only talk about sports is laughable. Its the kind of thing you expect someone who has never been around men to say.:sas2:

But ok, Next time my boy opens up about the hardships of raising a daughter with Down Syndrome, ill be sure to respond with my top 3 reasons why Giannis should win MVP:snoop:

Cuz thats what all men do right? :snoop:

It's important for men, black men in particular, to be a support system for each other
This include teaching, confiding and advising
This leads to another topic cause the default setting for men dealing with men is to compete.
100%
That’s life kiddo, people holding you down as a man is a rare thing. My mom said she’s never heard a single dad always talking about how hard it is and making themselves heroes, they just do it and have beers with their friends to get it out. She said a man powers through, absorbs everything until he has enough one day and just has a heart attack or stroke and dies.

I saw some shyt about a woman who became a man and suddenly all the safety nets disappeared once they were living as a man. No more checkups, pop ins, etc.

As black men we need to also pay attention to the health aspect of this

stress kills

stress kills us disproportionately especially men since we generally have little outlets and aren’t paying attention to our health as much when we young

:francis:I’m in my late 20s with hypertension

working on combating it because I’m not trying to die if a stroke at 45. I know too many black folks who died like that :francis:

I've spoken on this before. For some reason America was led to believe that women are the only gender with emotion or emotional intelligence or who can actually have a sense of kinship within their gender. No man has made his way to the top alone and usually other men are there to help him along the way. Men deal with heavy shyt too. We may not talk about it but we have group chats and guys nights where we talk about real shyt. The fact that we ain't screaming all over social media about it makes people think we don't.

Short story. My grandad is 96, fought in WW2, Boxed and was a pillar of his community. He out lived both his wives (my grandmothers.) And all of his friends save one who has dementia. He's having trouble getting around in old age and didn't let any of that show to me until recently where he teared up about not being the man he once was. And I assured him that everything was OK and that he was the man he needed to be for us and now it's our turn. That cheered him up. Dudes in the coli would have been like. :dame: nah I'm good on that grandad.

Then they get mad when women think they ain't got no feelings or sense of self? :gucci:

Hope things work out for you bro. Is it genetic? A lot of brothers die from strokes and heart attacks too soon. We need a support system because we all we got.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
My sister was nil present during my mom's cancer stages.

It was my father and me that were caretaking/nursing ma' dukes until her last gasp of air (lawd rest her soul).

I don't blame my sister for not being there... but it does speak of her lack of ability to tackle problems head on (she's very non confrontational, but very successful in the IT realm, witch suits her personality just fine).

Most women aren't aboot that life unless their pitted against their will and backs against the windows to the walls.

3 of my siblings passed as well (so basically half of my immediate family was gone before i hit the age of 35).

I have no choice but to remain resilient and tackle adversity like it's a part of my existence.

And mothafukkas wonder why I live life to the fullest.

The comments in that post:hhh: are the exact reason we resilient

You have to admit,a lot of the men in those post were taking unnecessary shots at women:comeon:. Obviously some women were going to fire back.

Yeah this is legit trauma porn.

I’m not reading this.

I tend to agree with this, black men have been programmed to see victimization and proclaim it. Mind you I'm not saying its not real,I'm saying we need to program our black men to be solutions based. All this going online and crying about how depressed we are,how victimized we are has to stop asap. That post was a positive post, and those men had to come in crying. This is that twitter programming that's creating victims.

Yep. Black forums that aren’t overrun by racists and miserables are more important now than ever. But also I would like to see a retreat from
social media.

I mean as a man you learn to stand on your own 10 toes. No body is going to do for you when you are down you have to pull yourself up.
