Ready to Die had 3 songs that changed on the final version because of sample clearances. They just interpolated the original samples:





I definitely prefer the original Me & My bytch, while Ready to Die and One More Chance are a wash.

Ironically they couldn't clear an El Debarge sample for the OG One More Chance but cleared a much more well known El Dabarge sample for the remix . Probably had to do with album budget.

Yeah I'm lucky that my older brother had the OG CD because Machine Gun Funk and Ready To Die's hooks just don't sound right without those samples. Especially Machine Gun Funk. The least they could've done was replace them instead of leaving them so barren

Well yeah, that's the version of One More Chance that made the CD, but they had to change the instrumental because the sample didn't get cleared. The one with the sample got released on some Bad Boy compilation before Ready to Die dropped but that was it.

If 50 didn't come out 6 months later and if the Eminem Show flopped, the sample clearance issues on this song would have killed Dre and Aftermath for good. It did kill Truth Hurts' career and essentially Rakim's comeback.

To this day that's one of the most amazing beats I've ever heard. I would have gave them all the publishing on that track if they demanded it just to get that song out for the exposure. Problem is her career went nowhere afterwards so it would have done no good

Edit: fukk they blasted this song out of existence. You can't even stream it.
