Why?

This is the cause for that problem. Your high paying job isn't creating avenues for other black men just you. That tends to be the case for upper class blacks. They have their wealth due to their job. You can't pass down a job, so these black male children raised in wealth have nothing to go to in adulthood.

That's not necessarily true. That's only if you lack an entrepreneurial nature about yourself. Many people have created financial legacies from the monies earned from their 9-5. We have to start somewhere. You can have all of the greatest ideas in the world. What are you doing with those when you lack finances? You are doing nothing but dreaming the most awesome dreams and your reality is far from those dreams. Not to mention, something like this goes across all races. A lot of people born into wealthy environments fukk it all up because they never bothered to care about the process of what got the wealth in the first place. They only cared that it was there. This isn't the case for all of these families but along the way, some of these families neglected to teach their children the same lessons they learned in route to financial independence.

This is the part that interests me more than anything.

It's been documented well enough that Black women are surpassing Black men when it comes to higher eduction. I'm seeing as much personally just looking at my own and other departments. I work in a large office building and I see FAR more Black women making strides professionally than I do Black men.

That's what piques my curiosity more than anything. What's the difference between young Black men and women causing the latter to seemingly excel past the former? To be even more specific, I'm especially curious about the differences between the two minus the typical oppression talking points. That's not to completely disregard how Black men are viewed and treated in society, so don't get me wrong. Still though, beyond Black women, why are some Black men doing okay while others fall behind? I might catch some flack for this, but I believe there's only so much that can be blamed on this society at a certain point.

As a Caribbean, I know that my family pressed education as far back as I can remember. I know other Africans do so with their children as well. Both for men and women. There's a persisting idea that Afram women are encouraged to go to college than Afram men. In this idea, Afram men also do not find value in education. Now, I'm not saying this is true. But this idea has been around for awhile now (decades). So I wonder how true it is and if so how much does it contribute to the current issue of generation wealth among black men.

Well..... here's your answer,

This may be true for a small amnt of BW, but this not how most women feel.

Not buying it.

it doesnt matter if you dont buy it.... research is already been done..... unless you expect 4 y/o black boys to magically have a sudden disinterest in education.... black mothers are the problem.......

The study is saying what we all have been saying for years on here

America won't let a black man win...At all

Regardless of how rich, which class or which family we comes from.
If we do get rich our boys have no shot at better life still.

This country is not for us no victories will happen here for us we will suffer and we'll die and that's about it.
I tried telling you nikkas

Had an argument with my sister about this a while back and my mum took my side.

She came with the receipts. The moment my sister started secondary school, she was approached by teachers asking her to let them know if she experienced racism etc. The parent evenings were about how well she was doing and encouraging her to push herself.

None of that shyt with me. First couple of years were a nightmare until my mum started reviewing my grades over a period of time (consistently high), picking holes in their story, and having the school reviewed by an external body (they didn't know their motives) who found that the teachers were provoking me.

People can say what they want. Black men are seen as a threat to white men, black women are not. The result is opposition when it comes to things like employment, general interaction in society, dealing with the police (aggravated) etc.

.
this is what people get for "Dragging" latinos and birracial people who don't claim black
i find it funny that now people, especially women, are getting mad that lite brites, Dominicans, mixed women etc. are talking about "black" issues but they were the ones yelling at these people to say they were black.
They shouldn't be talking about Black issues, period. They're free to talk about their Latino issues, however. They are of African descent or have traces but no they are not Black, especially not colloquially. Mixed BW have a different experience and consideration in light of both of their races and can only speak to that.

Stop lumping "light brights" which is derogatory btw with non, mixed and hyphen-Blacks, light skin women and men are still fully Black.
