Only thing I don't like about the sopranos is how they make Italians seem physically invisible. Some old, flabby armed dude can just pummel a landscaper or multiple young black guys. Or Chris, who couldn't even do a proper sit up in front of Adriana, can glass anybody he's up against... accept fat ass Toney of course.

The Wire since the focus is the complete failure of modern Western society in modern form that happened to use Baltimore, but the message is the same. Those who want power destroy themselves or others in their quest for it, be it to be the next Avon, Carcetti, Judge, Union Leader, Detective, Omar, etc. You could relate to the characters of The Wire.

The Sopranos is about the life of a depressed Mobster who can barely run his family in North Jersey and bends the knee for NY. I really couldn't relate to any of the characters because they are just set pieces for Gandolfini to interact with.

The Wire is GOAT since it has so many layers with it's writing.

The Wire.
As much as I liked the Sopranos, The Wire had more shyt about it that hooked me from the start and kept me watching as it went on, most noticeably the street/cop shyt.

Plus as a man who watched The Corner (Shame on you if you love the wire and ain't never seem that ) It felt like a continuation of that but on a broader scale, jumping from one family in the throes of a drug community to the whole community and more in-depth on the distribution of drugs ass opposed to those that take it.

Alot of the characters in the Corner had cool cameos in The Wire so I was all like :krs: When I saw 'em, Rest in peace To Robert Chew (Prop Joe)

The Wire hands down for me was better.

Breaking Bad is a solid 2.

Checked out of the Sopranos during season 3.

Time flies, Sopranos came out my Junior year of high school.

Sopranos. More complete show. Had everything you wanted. You could watch it for the drama or a comedy. The creative world was better and more character writing. The Wire was great but dropped off to me after Avon was gone and picked up a bit when Marlo got more screen time. Breaking Bad is not touching either of these shows. Its behind them both, and Game of Thrones. Realistically, its shoulder to shoulder with Mad Men.
:gucci:the Wire didn't have both drama and comedy? Sopranos had better characters:martin:

The Sopranos is amazing and I've rewatched it more than any show but I'd say The Wire is better. Better writing and focus. Both shows are very consistent but I'd say it takes some time for The Sopranos to go from "this is good" to "this is amazing" whereas IMO The Wire has 4 amazing seasons in a row.

The Sopranos is king of side stories imo. I love the family drama/bullshyt. It makes it so rewatchable. Every now and then there's a bad side story but usually they're pretty damn strong.

When Star said he grew up in Jersey around Italians and the mob in the 70s and that The Sopranos was bullshyt, it killed my impression of what I thought about The Sopranos.

My vote = The Wire.
Star doesn’t know shyt LOL.

The Wire is #2 to the Sopranos but that should in no way diminish how amazing it is.

:stopitslime: The Wire, duh!!!

Season four alone was a masterpiece. We not even gon get into season 3 that had everything you wanted in a show. Just an overall great show with an authentic and amazing cast and very complex writing...

For those of y’all slandering season 2:hhh: shame on you! That was where the writing really shined...it was the streets with a bunch of dock workers and they still had time to show you the streets as well. They had to show you a different dynamic of how that power struggle was exactly the same no matter where you were “looking”

Season 2 was low key one of my favorites, followed VERY closely by season four. The kids season had me almost in tears...showed you that life is life, and it doesn’t always end up “happily ever after” hence Namond “getting out” while Randy and Dukie (way more deserving of that chance) have to fend for themselves and young Mike turned into a savage...

Sopranos was great as well, I loved watching the mob dynamic, it’s been in my life forever (Godfellas, Godfather, etc) I needed to see something I could relate to...

TV isn’t the same for me once the Wire went off. Still don’t pay much attention to it now but I’ll watch and rewatch Wire episodes and seasons like it’s still on :yeshrug:
